Lafayette x reader

stay alive

i could tell that men where looking at me strangely but i didnt care, john is my friend and hes dying, the men gave me space as i tended to john, he was trying to act like he wasnt in a lot of pain but his slight groans of pain showed otherwise

"shhh, its ok..it'll be ok, i promise you'll be ok...just bare with me.." i said softly as i started to take the bullet out of him, he yelled in pain and grabbed my arm, i heard alexander argue with some men to try and rush to johns side, he was kept away so i could work, john nodded slowly as i kept talking to him, mostly just trying to keep him awake, after about ten minutes i started to just put pressure on his wound, trying to stop the bleeding, a lot of people had left so alex was able to be at johns side, they both spoke for awhile and alex held johns hand, laf stayed back and watched, after around five minutes alex left with herc and some other men, leaving just me john and laf in the medical tent, at this point i was leaning over john while keeping pressure on his wound, could barely keep my eyes open anymore, i was already working on a week of no sleep but now i just used all the energy i had to help john and yell at people, but i keep shaking my head to stay awake

"hey..its ok..i'll..i'll be fine" john said weakly as he looked at me

i looked over at him "yeah i know shhh...shh.."i smiled softly and looked back at his wound, slowly letting off of his wound and bandaging him up, then got john some water to drink "drink slowly....then rest..." i told him, he nodded and i started to put things away, then before i could do much i felt arms wrap around my waist, hugging me from behind, i jumped a bit

"oh- im sorry mon cher, i didnt mean to scare you" laf smiled softly, he kept his arms around me 

"its fine laf..i need to..finish up "i shook my head, then took his arms off of my waist and checked on john, he was asleep i smiled, when i looked over at laf i could tell something was off but i didnt say anything, once i walked away from johns cot laf pulled me into a hug

"shhh..you need rest mon cherie" laf said softly

"laf i..i'll be be fine" i tried to move out of his hug but he didnt let me, i sighed  softly and let my head rest on on his chest "whats with you?...you seemed upset just a second ago.." he didnt say anything he just held me tightly

"shhh...sleep.." laf said softly "i'll sing you a lullaby if i must" he smiled

"what? laf im fine..i.."i shook my head, i couldnt fall asleep, even tho its really hard not to, lafayette is so warm and nice, and his soft voice was just, so nice and easy to listen to, honestly i could listen to him talk forever, but i couldnt think like that right now john was hurt and i need to make sure he was healing, if i fall asleep he could die so i have to stay awake, i have to

"shhh..he'll be fine..rest now.." he looked at me, gently placing his hand on my cheek, then brushed a piece of hair behind my ear

"i...but...i..." i couldnt think straight anymore

"shh..shh.." laf held me close and started to softly sing a french lullaby, i tried to shake my head a lot to keep myself awake but that didnt work for very long,  laf gently picked me up bridal style and sat down, sitting me on his lap as he continued to sing a french lullaby, i couldnt stay awake, i fell asleep in his arms resting my head on his shoulder

                                                                           lafayettes POV

i looked at y/n as she fell asleep, she was so cute and she more then earned this nap, i kept my arms tightly wrapped around her, i looked over at john who i was great friends with and tho i was glad hes alive, i wasnt happy with how much y/n was over working herself just for johns sake, which made me think that, perhaps, she felt what i feel for her, for john, which only made me upset to think about, i looked back at y/n, if i just focus on her, i'll be able to get some sleep tonight, which i did, i fell asleep almost right away when i filled my head with thoughts of y/n

                                                                                  Y/Ns POV

i get up off the floor that i had been sleeping on, i walked over to a closed door, i heard coughing, i opened the door slightly "hello?" i poked my head in

"y/n!..stop! close the door! we dont need anything!" a female voice called weakly

i walked into the room a little "its ok, i can help, tell me whats wrong" i told the woman, she had a kid with her they looked to be about 12

"no y/n you cant you know that now leave before we get you sick to!" the young boy called weakly

"no, i can help, please just tell me whats wrong" i told them 

"please..." the woman coughed "you can't get sick too.." 

"please leave the room y/n please!" the boy begged, then suddenly i recognized both of them

"a-alex?....mom?..." i felt tears filling my eyes 

"go!" he yelled and coughed, then i woke up

i jumped awake, then tried to get away from lafayette, i was panicked, this probably made laf wake up since his grip on my waist got tighter

"shhh...shhh..shhh...its ok..." laf mumbled sleepily

"let go!" i tried to push his arms away

"hey hey hey..shhh.. its alright..calm down.." he tiredly tried to to calm me down

"please..just..i need to check on john..." i looked at him, laf sighed and slowly let go of me, i got up and walked over to john, checking his wound, laf got up and walked out of the tent, i looked over but kept my focus on john, he was fine which was good, i walked out to laf,  then looked up at the sky, it looked like the sun was about to rise in a few minutes 

"is he ok?.." laf asked

"yeah..he is.. we'll have to pack up and leave today.."  i looked at laf

"ok..i'll carry john when we head back" laf smiled, i nod and rest my head on his shoulder

"thank you..for everything.." i told him softly 

"you dont need to thank me.." laf turned a light shade of red as he looked at me, we stayed there and watched the sun rise then the rest of the men who rested at the camp that night helped us back the medical tent and we all went back to our homes
