Lafayette x reader

what did you say?!

as i looked at laf i smiled "of course! " i hugged him, i didnt really care about the ring, i just wanted to be in lafs arms, that was really all i cared about in the moment, lafayette wrapped his arms around me as he stood up, placing a soft kiss on my cheek "i love you lafayette.."

"i love you too mon ange" laf smiled, taking the ring out of the box and getting it off of the chain then gently grabbed my hand, placing the ring on my ring finger, i rested my head on his chest, everything just felt right, we soon walked back to the hamilton house and i parted ways with lafayette, eliza was the first to greet me when i walked into the house 

"soooo? how was your walk?" eliza questioned, smiling brightly as he walked over to me

"it was good" i smiled

"..just..good?" eliza furrowed her brows slightly

"well..yes" i raised a brow slightly as i looked at eliza

"just....good?..thats it?...nothing happened?"eliza sighed softly, frowning 

"well-" i was about to tell eliza that lafayette proposed when peggy rushed over

"eliza alexander wont leave his study please get him" peggy whined

"if i could get him out of his study at this time of night he would be with me right now" eliza sighed

peggy sighed sadly "okay..." she looked over at me "hey y/n!, your back! great i'll just talk to you instead " she grabbed  my hand "geez- your hands are cold!" she let go of my hand

i giggled "your adorable peggy" i smiled at her "and i guess i do have some news" 

"oh?" peggy raised a brow "what is it?" she tilted her head slightly 

"lafayette asked me to marry him" i smiled

"and you just..forgot to mention that when i asked about your walk?" eliza huffed

"well thats what you get for keeping secrets" i crossed my arms

"im sorry! alex got excited and told me so i had to keep it a secret" eliza sighed

"oh it doesnt matter! what did you say?! you said yes right?" peggy interrupted

"hm? i did..yeah" i smiled brightly 

peggy gasped "let me see the ring!" he grabbed my hands holding them up, both her and eliza looked at the ring and in unison said "aww" 

"im so happy for you y/n" eliza smiled 

"finally! i've been waiting for you two to get together since you sent me that letter saying you liked him!" peggy said crossing her arms

"peggy, i never told you who i liked" i chuckled

"i figured it out! and i did before you told me! so...hA" peggy huffed a little

i giggle and hug peggy and eliza

"Wheres angelica? im sure she's gonna want to know about this" eliza questioned

"hm?..." peggy furrowed her brows "im not sure" she shrugged   

"i'll tell her later, its late, im going to bed, goodnight ladies" i excused myself then went to bed, a week later i had told just about everyone of the engagement, by just about i mean everyone but thomas, i even told james, but of course i needed to tell thomas and i would, soon, i think, maybe, probably, i dont know, i still felt strange talking to thomas about lafayette, i mean he is my ex after all, i decided today i was going to make the effort of telling thomas, hoping it would go well, he's still my friend and he's lafayettes friend, we both want him at our wedding, so, around noon I got ready to see Thomas over at his estate, which luckily wasn't to fair of a walk, when I got there I knocked on the door, a very lovely lady opened it, I recognized her to be Sally, I smiled sadly at her

"Hi sally, I'm here to see Thomas, are..you doing ok?.." I asked, when I was with Thomas I constantly tried to get him to free his slaves but, well, just like almost everyone he wouldn't, so I did my best to make sure they where ok, as pointless as it may be

"Hello, miss Hamilton, come in, I'm doing fine.." Sally smiled at me "I'll go get him right away" she turned and went to get Thomas, I stood in the living area as I soon saw Thomas approach me

"Hello doll" Thomas smirked at me

I rolled my eyes "Thomas, hello" I loosely crossed my arms

"Ah, right, Lafayette," Thomas sighed dramatically

I chuckled slightly "I have some news to share with you "

"Oh? News?" Thomas raised a brow then looked me up and down "my god...are you pregnant?" His eyes widened slightly

"What? No!...do i..look pregnant?" I questioned looking down at my dress, putting a hand towards the bottom of my corset

"O-oh no! No you by no means look pregnant i- I just assumed if you where telling me in person it was something like that" thomas bit his lip

"Well, the news I have is important" I look at Thomas, trying to recover from the pregnant comment, I lifted my hand with the ring up and showed Thomas the ring "Lafayette proposed..we're getting married next month and we want you to be there"

"Next month?...thats..fast, is there a reason?" Thomas questioned

"...well..you know Washington isnt in the best of health conditions, we would have waited a year but we want him there, he's been a big part of our lives and we want to make sure he's there" I explained

"I see..well I'd be more then happy to attend, I'll speak with Lafayette on more details, but I'm quite busy today, so I'd hate to cut this short but.." thomas gestured to the door

I nod "alright, I understand, goodbye Thomas" I smiled at him then waved a little as I walked out the door, going back home, I felt as though Thomas was acting a little strange but I didn't think anything of it, I went home and looked at myself in the mirror, furrowing my brows, peggy walking over

"Y/n?" Peggy questioned "Is everything ok?" She asked

"Huh?..oh yeah...peggy?" I looked at peggy "does this dress...make me look pregnant?.." I questioned

"What?" Peggy showed visible confusion "no..why?" She gasped " Are you?! Is that why-"

I quickly cut her off "no, I'm not" I rolled my eyes "but..thank you for answering the question " I chuckled, my mind now at ease after seeing how confused peggy was
