Third Person POV (camp half blood) 5 Months before the war

The noise around the table in the big house was causing all those involved a headache. All the head counsellors sat screaming varying forms of 'WE NEED HELP' to 'HE WAS KRONOS' as Luke sat there watching quietly. He was sat in the back of the room listening to everyone argue about his fate here at camp. Not that he minded the noise of course, he had heard much louder and much more shouting recently. But no, he was waiting for something. For someone. He sat watching with an unamused face as the people he once knew so well yelled at each other with open hostility.

That's when the door slammed open. A man who would either cause this conversation to get worse or to completely change topics. He looked worse for wear with a few cuts on his face and he was staring straight into the eyes of the once son of Hermes. Everyone watched in stunned silence as he strode across the room, grabbing Luke by the arm and frog marched him out without saying a single word. Slamming and blocking the door behind him with a chair to allow a small modicum of privacy.

"So it's true then? You're back?" Percy asked, no emotion in his voice and his face a well sculpted mask never giving way to even hint at his thoughts.

"Yeah I'm back, and apparently that causes quite a stir around here these days, you would know about that after all what with your recent return." He smirked back, terrified out of his mind but trying not to show it. Why was he terrified you ask? Because this was the same person who had the ability to defeat him years ago when he had less experience and less power, now, Luke had no idea how he could stand up to Percy at all.

"I spoke to Chaos about you. I'm aware of why you've returned, I'm aware it's only for this war and then you're leaving again. Is that true? Have you come to help us?" Percy asked, surprising Luke. Percy has spoken to the creator? What else did he not know?

"Yeah, I'm here to help, if the camp will have me that is, although given the way this camp is I have no clue where they'll stand on my position here. Also since when do you know the creator?"

"Let's just say me and chaos have been talking recently about what may be. As for whether the camp will have you, well they barely tolerate me, at least most of them don't. You broke my loyalty Castellan, you know as well as I that you will have to earn it back. Are you sure you can face that challenge?" Luke knew what Percy was hinting at, he wanted to know. To understand how Luke had gotten here. He wanted to see the memories and he was not going to argue, for if they wanted to win this war, they needed to be on the same side.

So he showed him. Everything that had happened to him over the last few years. All that he had learnt and found. Trust was formed. Luke was allowed to stay as none dared argue with Percy, at least not so openly after he briefly explained his trip to Tartarus and what Nyx had said. All sat in silence as they processed his words, thinking of the best way to describe the situation.

"Well shit." Leo said.

Yep that about sums it up.

After the meeting had ended Luke went to look for Percy back at his tent outside the Artemis cabin. He wanted to know exactly what he knew and had been through, how he had gotten to this point, desperate to understand. He was surprised when, upon walking in, Percy sat with a notebook in hand carefully doodling next to a poem he had appeared to have written.

"Ummm Perce? What are you doing?" The son of Hermes asked as Percy startled and looked up at him, a brief look of surprise on his face. He explained how when his mind was struggling to make sense of something he would draw it, his instincts and feelings kicking in leading him to a conclusion he understood, and sometimes he would write poems to help him remember. He showed one he had written after the end of the Titan war. It was a small poem, 8 lines in total forming 2 stanzas.

Fates with hearts
And balls of twine
Twist and turn
The story unwinds

With baited breath
The son of Hermes
A hero's death.

"It reminds me of my humility, that just because I'm told that I'm powerful or the chosen one or a hero doesn't mean I'm The Hero. And it helps me remember that people can be good even if they seem to be bad, and that almost everyone is worthy of redemption if they truly try for it." The room fell silent again as tears gently fell down both of their faces. Two boys broken by wars and mistakes that haunted the pair of them had taken comfort in the fact that someone else understood.

They would be almost inseparable from that day on, both able to train the other one well, keeping each other on their toes and sharing their anguish in a way only brothers could. They both knew the full story of the other one, a story that the rest of camp did not yet know. They would find out sure but not yet, not today. For now they were safer not knowing, after all, they had barely been able to handle the return of the son of Hermes. How on earth would they be expected to handle the news that he was in fact the leader of the team chaos was sending?

How would they react knowing that the once camp leader had been alive for many years?

What would they say when End attacked in a little over 5 months?
