Addiction is such a broad term. Everyone was an addict, the first step is admitting. Wether it's drugs, booze, the highs and lows, people, or a certain feeling. Everyone was addicted to something.
I've never been good at keeping relationships, whether they where romantic or platonic I sucked at it. I was a shitty friend, and I'd make an even worse of a girlfriend. The worst thing about it all was that I didn't feel guilty about it either. Sure I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't bring it to myself to do anything about it. A popular trend I saw in most people like me.
Addicts are liars. You can't believe anything they say. How easily they'll tell you they didn't mean it, that they won't do it again. It all came so naturally to them. I would know best.
I was an addict.

I swing my keys in my hand as I wait for the elevator doors to open. Once they do I make my way into the parking garage tossing my empty bag in the car, and force myself into the seat. I knew that this would be the last time I'd drive this car, I'd need to ditch it on the way to be safe. There was no way of telling how many people knew I drove this car.
The leather seatbelt stretches along my body as I click it in place. I start the car and get ready to leave until the ringing of my phone catches my surprise. A random number appears on the street, but I hesitantly pick it up anyway. The person on the other line welcomes me with silence, neither of us wanting to speak first.
"Athena." The voice finally says, and I recognize it quickly. Griffin. My heart relives itself that it was not someone else, but he was still not someone I wanted to be hearing from right now. "Do you need something." I say unamused as I tap my fingers on the steering wheel. "I need to speak to you about something. I'll expect you over soon." Before I could respond the line goes dead and my phone rings with an address. The same place I had went for the ball.
Checking the time it was only 10:22, I still had time to lose. I needed a new ride anyway. I could easily steal on of their cars for mine. It wouldn't hurt to know what he wanted either. I type the address into my gps and start my journey there.
It was now nearing 11 o'clock as I was pulling into the long familiar driveway. I parked the car closely in front of the large door, as I keep my purse close to me as I walk up the stone path leading to the entrance. My eyes examine the other expensive cars as I press the doorbell hesitantly and wait for someone to answer the door.
Moments later the familiar face of Griffin Romano stands in front of me. "I didn't actually think you would show." He says with a straight face. "It was on my way out." I say as I brush past him inside. I eye him up and down, his usual black suit and tie was traded in for a pair of grey sweatpants and a wife beater. "On your way out to where?" He says as I hear the door close.
