I want to apologise,
For holding you hostage
For refusing to let you out even after you banged and beat against the cages of my ribs
I apologise,
For not holding my hands out and letting you bleed out of my outstretched fingers
I want to apologise for you not realizing that I am human too
That in my 'humanness', I too have feelings
I must apologise,
For always thinking you were better than you really are
I apologise on behalf of my young self,
Who notwithstanding the circumstances,
Chose to always believe you
I apologise for letting them to choose you over themselves
I apologise on their behalf,
For they recklessly chose to not acknowledge your supremacy over them
For you had to vehemently shower them with fat, heavy droplets of your power
And every drop landed like a jackhammer
Breaking that stubborn resolve that they refused to let go
And most certainly,
I must apologise
For all the things they made you do
