Dear,

15 7 12

I made you a crown of flowers
when you weren't looking

with roses and daisies and lilies-of-the-valley
and thorns that are never to prick you

it drips golden nectar
to match your golden eyes

I made you a house of thread and drapes
when you weren't searching

with a window for a ceiling
and bookshelves filled with stories

they're woven from the constellations
I've seen you smile at

I made you a garden
when we weren't touching

with the fattest bumblebees
and flowers grown in moonlight

there's a tire swing
tied to the willow tree by the river bank

I made you a sky
when you were hurting

it has clouds you can touch
and stars that adore you (who doesn't?)

you can float up there if you want to
but you should fly up there since you need to

I made you a world
when I was trying

a place with the flickers of your dreams I found
a blanket to keep you safe

we're still just kids
and I've got our sky boat ready

have you packed your bags?
