Hermann Hesse is my favourite author of all time. Having the same personality type, his works really resonate with me. His book, Demian, is my favourite and has influenced me greatly. So greatly, in fact, that four poems and one haiku inspired by it. Enjoy.

Haiku :
In a peaceful sleep
I had a dream
about a sparrowhawk.

Desire ;
He fell in love with a princess ✨
living on a distant star
but had no hopes
she was too far.

One day,
he stood there on a cliff
The moon illuminating
the water and the sand.
Then as if on impulse
He jumped but landed on the land.

He remained there shattered
Shattered like his low hopes.

Anticipation ;  ✨
Once upon a time,
a prince fell in love with a princess
living on a distant star.
But he still had hope,
despite her being too far.

One day,
he stood there on a cliff
The moon illuminating
the water and the sand.
Then as if on impulse
he jumped but didn't land on the land.

Instead a ship made of gold
took him on a journey like never before.
Riding on currents,
Crossing enchanted lands,
he finally reached the star
and landed on soft sand.
There awaited the woman he loved
and there, ended his yearning.
The story took a turn.

Him. 🌟
Silently over the city he watches,
high and sharp like an eagle.
He knows you better than yourself.
A prince in disguise, royal and regal.

Silently over the city he watches
like a prince, royal and regal.
You don't know him but he knows you better than yourself
Like a prey being watched by an eagle.

He reads the lies
off from your eyes
The lies you tell
yourself
He knows your darkest secrets
and guards them
as his pelf.

Max Demian ; ✨
In a crowd with their eyes closed
you can still feel his gaze.
Masculine or feminine,
he had both on his face.
Thoughts so original,
you'll get lost in his maze.
This was Max Demian.

He seemed to be both
a young boy and an old man.
To be with people who bear
a mark, he would enjoy.
But being alone with his thoughts
gave him greater joy.
He was Max Demian.
