CHAPTER 10

August's POV

My palms were sweaty as I was tying my blue tie around my neck. Mia was showering in the bathroom and I was ready to tell her about Mr. Dawson and Laura.

I hope she understands me but I know what I did was a stupid thing. I should have told her before. She is going to be mad as fuck but I'm going to beg for her forgiveness.

''What are you doing, August?'' I heard her soft voice as she placed her frail hand on my back. I didn't notice that I was staring at my reflection for a while.

''Nothing, baby. I was just thinking about something. Are you done with showering?'' I asked and I asked the most stupid question.

''Yeah. You have a meeting?'' She asked.

''I will be back in an hour then we can spend time together,'' I said and kissed her lips softly. Her lips were my safe heaven and I loved them.

''Okay. Be safe.'' She blushed as she said it. I chuckled and pecked her lips again before I left her to dress.

I put on my watch and took my phone before leaving the room. Tiny running footsteps were getting closer until a little body crashed into my leg.

''Papa, where are you going?'' Leon asked me as I scooped him in my arms.

''I have a meeting with some people. But when I come back you, mommy, and I are going to buy ice cream. Okay?'' He nodded happily and I kissed his cheek before putting him down.

''See you later, papa.'' I smiled and told him to go to Mia before leaving the house.

I got in my car as the driver started it. I was concerned about them both and I wanted the best for them. I know Mia will dislike me after I tell her that I have a fiancee but I don't want Laura.

And if I have to, I will break the contract with Mr. Dawson. My family is important and it will always be in the first place.

I had a meeting with some investors at my company regarding the new launching product. An hour and a half later I was done.

My phone rang in my pocket and I saw it was Laura.
''What do you want?'' I asked.

''I'm standing in front of your house and your bodyguard won't let me in.'' My eyes widened. Dumb girl. What is she doing at my house?

''Why are you there?'' I asked as I entered the car.

''Because my father told me to bring you some important document.'' She said innocently. That prick. He did this on purpose.

''Don't come inside and wait for me,'' I said as I hung up the call.

Mia's POV

I was in the kitchen with Leon making cookies. He wanted it for so long and I never had time. The girls were dismissed for a day because I got to spend time with my boy and they seemed tired.

''Mommy, make chocolate ones,'' Leon said as he bounced on the countertop.

''You need to help me then.'' I smiled and opened the jar with chocolate chips.

''Put it in the batter,'' I instructed and he took a jar with both hands and put quite the amount of chocolate in it.

''Well done, baby.'' I smiled and kissed his cheek.

After I was done making the batter and putting it in the baking pan as nice round balls, I put it in the oven.

''We need to wait for them to bake and cool down,'' I said to Leon who seemed to be sad at my answer. But I started tickling him and he was full on laughter.
