Shivering and shaking as Adad walked into the cave and checked to see if anything was there something felt off about the cave, about how Thorin was acting. holding my hands out in front of my eyes, fingers were slightly blue, my fingers were shaking so hard that it seemed as if they were vibrating. letting out a loud sneeze and wrapping my arms around myself, I walked quietly into the cave. cupping my hands as if they were a bowl and putting them up to my lips I breathed hot breath on them to warm them up.

The cave was large and damp, the rock jutting out in random places as if it knew that we would come as if it wanted us to sit down.

walking over to the corner and curling up in a ball as I sat, I pulled out my blanket and covered myself up. closing my eyes as I could now finally afford a break without possibly dying.

The noise around me sounded more like white noise. my nose felt like it was gonna pop off.

whimpering and snuggling closer into my blanket closer I noticed a body sit next to mine.  Looking sleepily up I just about punched myself in the face. It was Adad. he looked odd. His usually low-set eyebrows now stood higher up and in a normal place for any dwarf.

Sitting next to me as I groaned and flung my blanket over my face and hid. laughing quietly and pulling the blanket away from me he silently asked me to sit up. complying and sitting up, letting my arms wrap around me, I watched as Adad shifted slightly. knowing exactly what this talk was gonna be about I looked down at my feet, at anything but his face.

Bringing his hand over to my face and picking at a lock of my hair I looked up at him. His face was sad, his mouth was high. sighing and flinging my arms around him.

"Madi, you are so much like your mother it baffles me, she had her pick of the men and always had others making eyes at her, she was special, yet she never lost sight of that. she never lost sight of what drove her. of what and who she loved. I wish your mother was here to see you like this. To meet your young prince.

"I love you Adad," I whispered as I realized that he finally got it. he had finally come to terms with me and Fili...

Pulling away and looked back at me with a bitter-sweet look in his eyes yet he smiled

I could tell that something in the way adad looked at me I realized something had changed, he had accepted that I had grown up, that I had changed, I was not the six-year-old hanging on his arms running over to the small country cottage. I was not the little girl swinging the wooden sword at Fili in a mock battle. I was not the same little girl who ate that entire cake with Fili. I am not little anymore, I am Madilin.

                                                           FILI POV
Yes the cave was cold, and yes it reeked of fever but everyone was safe. Madi was safe, Kili was safe.

Kili had a large gash on his cheek on his face and on his knuckle. yet his smile hadn't wavered. He had shielded Madi, he had kept her safe. I knew that Kili was happy for me, I knew that he saw Madi as his sister.

I watched as Dwalin daintily picked at the small bead in her hair. I could sense the panic, anger, and happiness radiating off of him. hugging him and listening to something that he had said. I watched as he jerked his head over to both me and kili.

She was smiling and she had an air about her that just made me smile. Her eyes were glossy and her hands were full with her bag and sleeping items. She was just about bouncing up and down and so was I. Dwalin had accepted me.

sitting down on the ground with a squeal she hugged her pillow in her arms. happily, Madi covered herself with her blanket and let out a yawn.

"Madi, go to sleep, you have had a long day with almost being crushed by a stone giant and everything. I am surprised you are still standing." Kili teased poking her arm and hitting her with his own pillow.

looking up at Kili and then at me she nodded, her eyes drooping, and her shoulders relaxing.

Yawning once again, louder this time, she laid herself down and closed her eyes.

She looked like a child laying there, vulnerable. Her eyelids twitched and her chest rose slower and slower, her body catching up finally to the toll of the day.

looking over a Kili who himself leaned against a rock I concluded that Kili really did believe that she was my one.

yawning myself, digging through my bag, and taking out my own blanket and pillow I lied down next to Madi.

Her face was relaxed her lips in a slight frown, open slightly. Her hands were close to her face as if she was gonna punch someone. sighing and finally laying down I heard her whimper slightly. hearing her shift in her sleep I felt something drape over myself, I felt her sleepy breaths against my throat, a child at heart she really was.
