Joshua swallowed his saliva.

For some reason, his eyes just couldn't leave your lips. He kept reminding himself not to think of you in ‘that’ way because you two have been friends for so long, but his heart just kept skipping beats and racing. Even when you did the slightest thing as to touch him, he would feel his ears flush with blush, and sweat form on his palms.

Joshua was reminded of every moment his lips came into close contact with yours; whenever you were innocently reaching for something behind him and your faces happen to get close, whenever you jumped up and down excitedly in front of him, face to face... His heart fluttered just thinking back on those times.

Holding onto the bag of cookies in his hand, his fluttering heart, and overall thoughts just made his hands sweat.

With flutters, Joshua's heart was also beating from nervousness. He shouldn't be viewing you, his best friend that way, and he was aware of it. He didn't want to ruin the special friendship you two had. He didn't want to make it awkward.

Plus, Joshua wasn't even sure what he was feeling himself. He couldn't tell if he was starting to see you as a romantic interest more than a friend or if your charms he didn't notice before had finally been appealing to him. Joshua was confused. His feelings were mixed even if his mind was wondering all over again what it would feel like to be loved by you.

What the hell were you to him?

You were looking down at your phone browsing through backpacks on Amazon, your lips glued to the straw transferring your smoothie.

You two were outside a café where you bought your smoothie. Joshua, your best friend, got an Americano.

The two of you were waiting at the bus station, where it was surprisingly empty. The two of you were going to go search at the mall for backpacks because you wanted to go on a friendly camping trip.

Cars passed but the bus was nowhere in sight.
You put your phone away and let out a small sigh, slurping your smoothie.

Immediately, Joshua turned away to pretend like he had been looking elsewhere the entire time. He particularly focused on an old couple, who were on a walk with their dog. You managed to get a small glimpse of Joshua's quick turn but thought nothing of it.

“When should the camping trip be...?” You asked Joshua, crossing your arms with your smoothie in hand. “If we want to invite our friends, should we give them a lot of time to prepare?”

Joshua was quiet for a bit.

“Hmm... do whatever you want,” Joshua replied with a smile.

“Tch, fine. Let's make the D-DAY next month on the 8th. Autumn weather is supposed to be great next month.”

Joshua nodded, watching as your lips went back onto the straw. He was hoping that you wouldn't do that.

His mind began to wonder again, wondering what it would like to taste you, wondering how his heart will feel once his lips meet yours. Joshua clenched his hands.
