I WAS BORN IN BRAZIL. My mother was from Japan and traveled there to study, and met my father who was from São Paulo.
My dad was a scientist. I don't know what my mother's job was.
They had me, then we moved back to Japan when I was 3. I knew both Portuguese and Japanese, as I had a pretty high IQ for such a young kid.
I only enjoyed my youth for about 2 years, but as soon as we moved to Musutafu, my life changed.
We weren't poor, but we definitely weren't rich. We depended on my father for money, but based on his researches, our income always wavered.
Sometimes we'd get a big pay check, other times we'd only be able to afford 8 or 9 meals for the week.
My dad was always cooped up in his office—dissecting, creating concoctions—just science stuff. I wasn't close with my father, at all. When I saw him, it would only be at dinner, if that. We hardly talked...
I actually don't even know his name.
As for my mother...She used me as her tool.
She wanted me to be perfect. I wasn't allowed to fail. If I failed, I wouldn't pass school and if that happened, I couldn't get a job, and if THAT happened, she would "drown in debt" and be finically unstable.
