how do you heal? do you put your milk before your tea? do you use bags or leaves? do you strain or do you like to know your future is sitting there waiting to be seen? how do you stitch up your wounds? with one lump of sugar or two? or do you take it plain, straight up with no chaser for the pain? how does your love taste? sweet, like chamomile or pandan leaf? or does it wreak havoc on the tastebuds, like peppermint or barley? how do you heal? beside the window watching rain fall with etta in the background going blind for her lover? sipping on a cup of whatever will pull you back together again after your own love ripped the seams of you apart. honey, i know stitching yourself up is a pain. some days you will taste like chaos and rot. you will taste like healing and as beautiful as that sounds, believe me when i say it's nasty business threading that needle through skin. so just remember, lover who loves with all the pieces of their heart, you are stronger than you were at the start. do not give up, slowly you are becoming a work of art.
