Scenarios like these where it says "If you" is usually where you can decide if you are a deputy or just a normal citizen or something else.

Joseph:

He thanked you for serving before saying God clearly has plans for you since he helped you survive it. When you tell him about stories of the war, he will listen and nod to let you know he's listening closely. He makes sure when you come to his compound that there is nothing that can trigger your PTSD as he wouldn't wish for you to be reminded of those terrible times and think it's all happening again.

John:

He thinks your scars are amazing and badass, telling you they tell a story not many can endure and aren't even brave enough to think of. When you get PTSD and do stuff like hiding under the table or curl up in a ball to feel safe, he will not make fun of you or act that it's weird so he won't embarrass you and just crouch down and rub your back, assuring you everything is okay. When someone makes fun of you for what you went through, he is quick to defend you, wishing to drown this person, yelling you risked your life to keep everyone safe and you deserve more respect than they ever will.

Jacob:

This was the main reason he liked you, because you both went through a very similar kind of Hell, both suffer the same or very similar PTSD, both served your countries and got nothing but trauma and a bad paycheck for it. You both shared stories with each other. When you suffer from PTSD and try to rush away, he will hug you and hold you in this tight, protective embrace, whispering it's okay and the war is over, explaining to you what it is and that it's not the war. He's the only person he letts his "weak" side be shown to, the only person he will let comfort him as you can understand him in this area more than anyone else.

Faith:

She gasped when she learned before getting this sad smile, saying her brother Jacob also served in the army. She assured you she is always here to listen and comfort you. When she finds you extremely stressed, crying, or hiding, she will gently take your hand and give your cheek a gentle kiss, whispering it's all okay and she is here now. If you suffer from scars and are ashamed by them, she will gently trace her fingers over them, telling you there is no need for this shame as these are signs of the brave, life-changing things you went through.
