He's gonna be talking to them every chance, giving them special attention even though he claims he gives no one special attention and all his "children" get equal attention and love.
He used this as a way to tell you; "Your family member saw it, why can't you? You should talk to them," as he knew he has the member under his control enough that they won't betray him and try to make you see the way instead. The more you kept ruining his things his "kindness" slipped away and threats began being made, and at the end, when you came to take him on, it was a gun to your family member's head.
John:
He's intrigued by it and got so excited when he realized. Suddenly he's by their twenty four seven, asking odd questions about you and your family as now he can get all that juicy drama and learn things he can torment you with.
Though this also makes him anxious as he knows this means you'll be working even harder to destroy them all. So he talked to his brother about kicking that family member out as they'll only endanger everyone more.
Jacob:
He was suspicious of your odd determination. It wasn't just anger at your situation, it was desperation. To get someone. So he began looking into it, and soon enough he found out why.
Of course he took your family member into his area; making them train and work so hard. When you argue to him of this he acts innocent, claiming he's just making sure they won't be culled. He loves seeing your desperation and anger grow, it makes him feel alive and excited.
Faith:
Suddenly it hit why you looked so familiar! She remembers giving your family member a cup of tea with a bit of something special in it. when they first came here. When you see her in your bliss state she is usually aside them, speaking in that soft tone with those fake words; telling you to join your family member: to join your new family.
She does actually take good care of them. It gave her a false sense of being closer to you. She hopes you will realize and join, so can truly become a new family.
