He assumed it was simply because he almost got through to you, so now you are lashing out as you feel conflicted. So he let you be, let you process and accept reality and your fate at your own pace. He still stopped by, not taking your cruel words to heart. And somehow he found your retorts amusing to everything he said, though also frustrated with how defensive you can be.
John:
He's so confused! He thought something great was going on between you two, and now you went back to your shitty self! So he was angry and conflicted: even began yelling at you of how you can't just do this and he's been trying to help you but you push away his help at every chance.
Jacob:
He narrowed his eyes, having thought your kindness was too suspicious, then smirked a bit as he asked "Bipolar?" You gave him the middle finger so he chuckled then said he rather have you like this than acting so weirdly nice. It was only weird as it was not expected of you, and not many treat him genuinely nice: more like as if he's some shepherd to be worshipped at now or with fear.
