He gladly accepts it. It will bring peace for a while that allows him to encourage people again and hold more sermons. As you shake hands he notices how different your hands feel now from when you first came here to arrest him. He will stay polite, saying he hopes whatever reason this is for gets solved quick and to take good care of yourself.
John:
It makes him paranoid, more so when he asks why but you say private reasons, and taking your hand makes his insides swirl. He expects a knife in his side now but you just shake his hand then go. He will feel bored during it but take this time to go bother his brother to give him stronger men so he can finally stand a chance because you keep beating him!
Jacob:
He's more likely to decline but if he's feeling generous he will ask 'how long?' with crossed arms, a clear expression that it better be a short while otherwise he declines. While his men could repair during that time, you also can, and he wants to avoid having you come back better and stronger.
Faith:
She'll feel suspicious but shake your hand, wondering why you need this truce. Her people could use a break so that's only why she accepted, and an excuse to be close to you and maybe try to convince you to join. She will keep a closer eye on your whereabouts during this time; feeling that you are planning something. She feels like she's missing a piece in a puzzle and it drives her crazy.
