Raynare taking away Asia's gear and see her die before his eyes, everyone could see the pain and hopelessness in his eyes followed by rage. Using the boosted gear a.k.a one of the longinus that power to defeat gods, getting two more light spears impale his legs, finally Rias and the others show up and killed Raynare, reincarnating Asia.

Then the Riser arc, Rias tried to have her way with him so she wouldn't have marry Riser and Issei's refusal to do anything to her unless it was out of love. Everyone watching can immediately tell that Issei is a guy with morals underneath the perversion, they see the tough training, the rating game, the loss, Issei sacrificing his arm for power to defeat Riser and free Rias, their kiss on the griffin, then came the Kokabiel arc, reuniting with Irina, protecting Asia from the muscle head Xenovia, the holy sword project. Fighting Kokabiel, seeing Vali appear for the first time a.k.a the white dragon emperor. Helping Akeno accept herself as half fallen and how she started to fall for him, how all the girls did little by little, the respect he earned.
