Piper's POV

Piper knew that when she'd left to go get Percy while he was surfing, she wasn't going to come back.

It was inevitable that she would simply join him and, if they weren't interrupted by anyone, would probably be surfing all morning.

She carefully made her way to the beach, where she knew Percy was going to be, and indeed saw him lying on a board and paddling out into the crystal clear water.

Without even asking if she could join, she grabbed one of the surfboards that were always lying around on the beach and joined Percy.

"Think you can do multiple waves?" She asked as she arrived next to him.

"Why not? It's a nice morning." Percy replied with a wide smile.

"You need to stop disappearing like that, you know." Piper chided. "Annabeth was scared to death."

"Why? I wrote a note and everything."

"Perce, you literally fucked off without warning. For us it's normal, but they don't understand that." Piper explained. "You should've told her you do that sometimes. I'm sure she would've been fine with it."

"Yeah, I guess..." Percy said. Piper knew he wasn't really listening. He had a distant look in his eyes and was surveying the water in front of them.

Before Piper could say something else, he laid down on his board and started swimming, a wave soon following him.

She shook her head, but chuckled nonetheless. "Same procedure as every time, I guess." She mumbled to herself with a smile as she sense a wave forming behind her.

"Come on, Pipes! Don't let the wave eat you!" Percy called from the shore with a massive grin.

"Fuck off, Kelpy!" She called back.

For the next hour all so, all they did was enjoy each others' company, and the waves Percy created, poking jokes and teasing each other.

Percy made quite a few comments about Piper's "obvious" feelings for Jason, which Piper would always instantly counter with a comment about Percy's very much obvious feelings for Annabeth.

"She doesn't like me, Pipes, and that's final." Percy stated after another snarky comment. "How do you think Katie and Travis are doing?" He asked suddenly as the rested in the water for a while.

"I honestly have no idea." Piper hadn't spent much time thinking about them, but when she did, all she could do was worry and hope they were fine. "But hopefully we get some good news soon."

"I'm sure they'll be fine, but I can't help but worry anyways."

"Yeah..." Piper knew she sounded more like she was trying to convince herself rather than convince him.

Suddenly, a group of dolphins appeared and started swimming in circles around them, making the usual noises and causing Percy to laugh.

"They're bored and want to play." He translated.

"Well you don't have to ask me twice." Piper exclaimed, purposely falling off of her board and into the water.

She was about to pull Percy in when she saw Annabeth walking onto the beach and sitting down in the sand.

"Perce, go talk to her. Ask her if she wants to join us as well." Piper ordered.

"Way ahead of you." Percy chuckled, diving underwater and swimming towards Annabeth.

Next to her, a dolphin clicked something, and, even though she didn't understand or speak dolphin, Piper knew that they were talking about Percy and Annabeth.

"Yeah, this'll be fun." Piper whispered to herself with a smile.
