CHAPTER 3 : CHEAP SHOT

Rei POV

"Wake up!!! Wake up!!!" said a girl with a worrying expression

Before I opened my eyes, I pressed my forehead a little with my palm. I was dizzy for some reason, maybe it was motion sickness

After a minute, I completely regained my senses and said to her

"Thanks for waking me up, I had an unlucky journey and I'm extremely tired" I said with a sad expression

"Unlucky journey?" She asked

"Yes. I came from the US and after an unlucky chain of events.... I arrived here after 45 hours"

"WHOA!!!" She was surprised after she heard my odyssey

After we got together out of the bus, I restarted the conversation

"I'm Karuizawa Rei, nice to meet ya" I said with a smile

"I'm Kikyō Kushida, what's your class?"
she asked

"1-D" I said

She was surprised and she said "We are in the same class, I'm very happy"

"It's a pleasant coincidence" I said and she laughed

We are some meters away from the King. It's time to make someone pissed hehehe

"Wait"

I opened my phone and I played a medieval soundtrack. King, Kushida and Bitchy were surprised by the speed which I operated my phone

"Oh great Gatekeeper, we've done your quest and we destroyed the enemies outside your city's walls, we are here for the supreme reward to let us inside the campus" I said with a mocking voice

Kushida laughed so hard that she almost died. It was impossible for me to keep my laugh in check and I followed after her. King changed his expression a little but I don't know how the joke affected him. Some random people nearby were in tears

"Wh-Wh-Whaaaaaaa?!" My target lost her words. The burn is a success

"You looked superior a moment ago and you are some stairs above us. The only possible explanation for you stopping us is that you are the King's Gatekeeper" I explained

Everyone started laughing harder after my explanation. Everyone understood that stopping us was bizarre and after my ridiculous explanation everyone looked her like an idiot. More people came to the site

After she regained her composure she said

"I stopped only him" she paused "You were looking at me. Why?"

Everyone started laughing

"The other girl predicted that you will do something stupid and her joke became legendary" said a girl while laughing (Nishino)

Let's see if the King changes his answer

"Sorry, I was just interested, is all. You seemed too absorbed reading the book you were holding inside the bus and I only checked the book's title. Also, you didn’t think about giving up your seat to the old woman, did you?"

That's different from the canon version, he explained with extreme detail everything making everyone take his side. He adapted perfectly inside this situation and he threw the ball to her without any chances for her to return it

And because we are talking about Bitchy her answer will be the same

"That’s right. I didn’t consider giving it up. I didn’t give up my seat because I thought it would be pointless. That’s all"

People nearby had a face of disgust after they heard her reasoning and some of them started scolding her

"Shut up!!!! I’m simply acting according to my own beliefs"

And then she left

"Are you okay?" asked Kushida with a worrying expression

"I'm fine, I never expected something like this" he paused "your phone still plays the soundtrack"

"Oops, sorry about that" I stopped the music "without the gatekeeper the soundtrack is meaningless" I said with an obviously fake crying tone

Everybody nearby laughed

"Ayanokōji Kiyotaka 1-D"

"Kikyō Kushida 1-D"

"Karuizawa Rei 1-D"

"You are lucky, you have THE Court Jester in your class, I'm Masayoshi Hashimoto 1-A"

"Another person with the same loyalty fetish, this is a small world we live in" I said jokingly

"The Court Jester is on the offensive" he laughed

"Charismatic Kings and Tyrants don't need a mere Court Jester for jokes" I said with a smirk

"I'm looking forward to it" he said while leaving

That went like 1000 times better that I planned originally. I heard Nishino's burn for Bitchy during the confrontation and I accidentally saw Akimura in the background

That will give me a good excuse for scouting the other classes after day 1

My body feels easier to move around and
my brain circuit operates extremely fast. I have knowledge about a lot of martial arts and I know almost everything academically

The exceptions are extremely hard problems and world records, those are impossible for me. I don't care about that

"The entrance ceremony will start in a few minutes" said Kushida

"Ohhh right, I almost forgot" I said

"You are right, we should get going" said the King

After we started walking I realized something

"Ohhhhh" I said

"What happened?" asked Kushida

"We will meet again with her inside the ceremony, not laughing will be difficult for me" I said with a worrying expression

"You are bad for thinking that" she said trying to hold her laugh

"Don't bullshit me, I'll tickle you" I said taking action

"Stopppp!!! Stoppp!!! I'm gonna dieeeeee!!! I giveee up!!!" She screamed and for the first time she had a genuine smile on her face

"I admit it, it will be hard not to laugh"
She said giggling

"Ok, let's get going. Sorry Ayanokōji-kun, for waiting for us" I said

"Don't worry about it" he said

The entrance ceremony was extremely boring but something was different.
The majority of the students were trying to hold their laugh because of the incident. Wow news travel fast

I was laughing for a different reason. After I saw Ryūen's face I remembered that damned cursed image

I changed the entrance scene and I think I'm satisfied with the result
