[Zevi's Pov]
“Ahora que abuela?”(what now lola?) Inis na singhal ko kay lola.
“Solo quiero visitarte nieta.” (I just want to visit you apo) sagot niya.
I frown in frustration dahil dito sa lola kong Espanyol.
Papa Martin's mother, yes may lahing Espanyol ang papa namin.
“No quieres que la abuela esté aquí?”(ayaw mo ba na nandito si lola?) Ugh!
“No more spanish please, we're here in the Philippines, don't tell me, you still don't know how to speak in tagalog abuela?”
(Lola, you are a half Filipina)
Lola pouted at me.
“Give abuela time to adjust.” She said.
“Adjust in what abuela?” I asked.
“Abuela will stay here from now on, no one will take care of you two.” Sabi niya.
“Ugh abuela--”
“Shhhh nieta, your kuya Zero asked me to, okay? And I am willing to take care of you, so get up and ready for school, I'll cook.” She said and leave my room.
“Should be abuela.” Sabi ni abuela.
“Fine abuela, please don’t speak in Spanish, I can’t understand.” Aniya.
“Ah yeah, yeah, sorry I forgot, I told you to come with us, you refuse.” She said.
“By the way, una na po ako, baka malate pa ako sa klase ko.” He said at nagmano kay abuela bago umalis.
“Come, nieta and eat.” Anita.
Napakamot naman ako.
“Abuela, magtagalog ka naman.” Sabi ko bago umupo.
“Naku naman nieta, heto na nga.” Aniya, see that, napakafluent naman, nang-e-espanyol pa.
“Nieta.” Seryosong aniya at tinignan ako ng blangko.
[PS: Baka nyeta basa niyo diyan ha, hindi ho ‘ne-i-ta’ po siya, weird 'no, basta ‘nieta’ means apo na babae and lola ang abuela, thankies.]
