"I've been looking for you everywhere, darling."

Lotor's voice echoed throughout the training deck, muffled amongst the sounds of the bots being hacked with a number of weapons. Lance called out to pause the simulation, leaning against the lance-form bayard as he eased his gloves off, flexing his fingers as he caught his breath.

The Galra man had been whisking himself around, in many places at once, trying to pull together his hold on the throne. There was, expectedly, unrest throughout the Galra communities. While many factions had begun to whisper of insurrection, of the Kin-Killer Emperor, Lance spoke for everyone when he said he was surprised to see that so many more of the Galra had lain down arms and welcomed a peaceful leader into their royal seat.

"Lotor . . ." The paladin welcomed his partner with a light, airy tone that he was shocked to hear from himself.

The prince—emperor—approached, eyes soft but carrying the weight of the last few days. Lotor lifted a finger to poke lightly at Lance's cheek. "Dimples," he greeted in return.

Lance turned his face into his shoulder with all the indifference he could muster—which wasn't much. "How's the throne coming along?"

The emperor had told him of the cold, empty, robotic palace that had become of his old home; namely, the oversized, militaristic throne. That was the first of the palace to go.

Lotor spoke of starting anew, and his first order of business was to rebuild their culture, beginning with their most important landmark.

"I think you'll quite like them . . ."

Lance blinked—and Lotor was still speaking, but he had gotten caught up on that first part. "What do you mean?"

The emperor paused, having been interrupted. "What do you mean?"

Lance felt his nose turn warm with a self-conscious flush. "You make it sound like there's more than one throne."

His eyes widened. "Oh." Lotor hesitated, hand reaching self-consciously behind his neck as he averted his eyes. "I . . . had meant for that to be a surprise," he finished with a light laugh.

The paladin's face grew even warmer. "I—you're serious?"

"I am," Lotor replied unapologetically, composing himself. "Walk with me?"

Lance gave an amused smile as Lotor held out his arm. The paladin took it, bayard reverting into his suit as they neared the corridor outside the training deck.

"If I may, I would like to share some of Galra royal history." With Lance's encouragement, he continued. "As you know, for the past few generations, the Galra people have been largely known as a militaristic, aggressive race. This was not always the case—not even close. While honorable rite of combat has always been central to our culture, there was much time before my father took the throne, where Galra were far less concerned with conquering other nations, and more with building upon our own. During these times, times of providence and community, the leader of the people was to earn the title Blood Emperor."
