Timeline setting: Shippuden Era

-❀-

Sasuke halts as he sees a blob of pink.

'Sakura?'

He stops his training session and proceeds to follow the pinkette.

Curiosity filled in, questions formed in his mind. Why was she alone? A solo mission? And what's with her attire? The lack of red colors almost convinced Sasuke that it was just another shinobi... if it weren't for her hair.

She stops and so did he. She stood for awhile catching her breath-

-and punched a tree closest to her, forming a hole in the progress.

'She's gotten strong.' He thought, and remembered what the snake said when he was a few weeks new in the hideout. Sasuke scrunched his nose.

'He only told me she was learning medical ninjutsu...that bastard.'

He feels something unpleasant the moment it came to a realization that he was not aware of the kunoichi's progress... but the question is why does he feel like this?

He takes a step back and snapped a twig, Sakura's body stiffened.

Alerted, Sakura turns her head around, trying to detect from where the sound came from-

A pair of green met black orbs.

Sasuke immediately regains his composure and gave Sakura a glare.

"What are you doing here alone?" He asks, and got no answer.

But what he did saw is her hands clenching into fists, as if restraining herself from something.

"Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke noticed the venom in her tone and that unsettles him. He asks again.

"What are you doing here, Sakura?"

"...I was looking for clues about your whereabouts."

'Figures.' Sasuke thought, and takes a deep breath.

"Don't waste your time, go home."

Sakura snapped, "I didn't come all this way to hear that Sasuke-kun."

Now Sasuke was taken aback, completely caught off guard by her sudden demeanour.

Sakura scoffs, "I don't even know why, but I'm acting on impulse right now. I should hate you."

Sasuke's heart tightens for a bit.

"And I do, am I being selfish? Probably. Doesn't change the fact you had to leave the village just for power."

A pause, and she takes a breath.

"The least I want to know is that you're safe. I don't think I'll be able to bring you back home, not until Naruto gets back."

Sasuke's teeth clenched, her last statement didn't process in his mind, but the other one did.

"I don't think I'll be able to bring you back home."

The feeling of doubt lurking in her voice made him mad, because the truth is;

She IS capable of bringing him home.

And he hates that she can.

Before Sakura could talk any further, Sasuke gave a tsk, making the pinkette raise her eyebrows.

"You've always been... very annoying."

The last thing Sakura saw is ruby red eyes.

'How nostalgic.' Sasuke reminisced as he placed her on a nearby tree, making sure she's in a comfortable position.

He stares at her figure and remembers her words.

"I should hate you. And I do."

He smiles bitterly.

'I hope you're lying.' He hopes, he hopes...

And turned away to go, leaving a sleeping kunoichi behind.
