Ava's POV:
It was just a normal sunny Wednesday & practice had just finished for today. I was free to do whatever I wanted for the rest of the day, so I decided to ask my parents to see if I can go to my best friend Averman's house. Of course they had said yes, because they absolutely love him.

Me & Averman have been besties ever since we joined District 5 together. He always knows how to make me laugh & I can always count on him for anything.

....

Me & my mom had pulled up to Averman's house. He had opened the door & waved at us. "Well, I think your best friend is waiting for you. Y'all two have fun. I'll pick you up later around 5 just in time for dinner.", my mom laughed.

I giggled & got out of the car. "Alrighty mom. I'll see you later. Bye, love you.", I said as I closed the car door.

"Love you too, sweetie.", she said waving me goodbye.

I speedwalked to the front door & gave Averman a huge hug. "Hi "Lester". How's my best friend doing today?", I laughed.

Averman looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed, cause he hates when I call him by his first name. "Ava, how many times do I have to tell you not to call me that? You can call me Les or Averman.", he said rolling his eyes playfully.

I laughed. "Yeah, yeah. Okay, Averman." We both waved at my mom & she drove off. We closed the door behind us.

"So Ava, you ready to play Mario Kart 64? Or are you too scared to be beaten by the amazing Averman!?", he said getting in my face while doing some weird karate moves he always does.

I looked at him with an eyebrow furrowed. "Umm no. Why would I be scared if I beat you five times the last time? Hmm?"

He rolled his eyes playfully. "Oh whatever. Let's just go upstairs in my room and play.", he said while grabbing hand, taking me upstairs to his room.

Averman turned on his Nintendo 64 System & put the game in. We were picking our characters of who we wants to play. He picked Luigi & I picked Princess Peach, of course.

We waited a few seconds until the game started. Averman looked at me with a smirk. "Are you ready to get your butt kicked, Ava?"

I smirked & rolled my eyes. "Game on, Les."

We took off immediately when the race started. I was ahead of Averman, but then he pushed me aside, making me go off the course. I then speed up even more, going next to him & pushing him off the track, making the others pass him. I then finished in first place. "Hey! Ava, why did you do that?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Cause you know I'll do anything to try to win."

He rolled his eyes playfully. "Knowing you already, yes. I'm kinda getting bored, do you wanna go watch Star Wars in the living room?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Hmm, yeah sure. Why not? I'll be here for about another hour and it's only 3:40. Let's go.", I said getting up from the floor. I helped Averman up & we went downstairs to the living room.

As we were watching "Star Wars: A New Hope", I then felt something touch my hand. I looked down to see Averman's hand on mine. "Les, why is your hand on mine?", I asked in concern.

He looked down & moved his hand away quickly. "Oh! My bad, Ava. I don't know how my hand got there."

I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "Are you sure you weren't just trying to hold my hand?"

He looked at me with his eyes widened. "No, I- I- um-, forget that ever happened. But I do need to ask you something though."

"Yes Les?"

Sweat starting pouring a little from his forehead. "Before I ask you my question, I just hope you won't get weirded out if I ask you, cause you know I can be a little awkward sometimes and-"

I cut him off. "Les, are you trying to ask me out on a date?", I chuckled.

He looked around & scratched his neck. "Uhh....what would you have said if I was?"

I giggled & ruffled his curly red hair. "Of course I will, silly goose."

Averman smiled & held my hand with me holding his back. We continued watching Star Wars until my mom would come later.

Honestly I wasn't expecting my goofy best friend to ask me out, but why not give him a chance. He's the sweetest & knows how to make me laugh.
