When Matthew was finally discharged, after nearly 6 weeks, he was overjoyed. Of course he still has to come back for his therapy appointments but he was still over the moon to be out. He could finally put his clothes back on. So that's what he did. His plum pants and white undershirt. His lilac button up and black boots. He missed his handkerchief the most.

"You look better." Fortune hummed. He hadn't been around during his hospital stay. He was out in the Omniverse with his old friends.

"I feel better," Mattie sighed quietly. Something had been on his mind for a while... He promised he'd do it after he got out but he still put it off for two days afterwards. "Fortune do you know where Maxwell is..?"

Fortune blinked his eyes becoming two question marks. "He was with Glitchy and Rune last I knew."

"Thank you." Mattie started off to find them. It would be so much easier to portal but the doctor had warned him about magic use for a while.

Luckily, he bumped right into who he was looking for. "Max!"

Max looked up. "Dad! Hello!" He smiled.

Mattie sighed. "Listen Max... I wanted to talk to you."

The youngest blinked. "Is something wrong? Are you okay?"

"No no nothing's wrong." It twisted Matthews soul hearing the worry in his son's voice. "I needed to apologize to you. I was... stars I thought I was a bad father to Cypher. I don't know where to begin with you... " He sighed.

   "Dad-" Max started.

"Max. I was horrible to you. I...I used you like a tool. I didn't even say I love you. Max I love you so so muh. You know that right? You're my son and I love you and I am sorry." Matthew admitted tears dripping from his face. This was the second time in far too short a timeframe that he was begging for forgiveness from his children...

"Dad it's okay-" Max went to wrap hai arms around his father and bury his face in his chest. "I love you too.."

Matthew sighed and held his son close. He wanted to say something else but the words didn't come. His chest ached lightly. "Karma told me what you did for me."

Max whimpered at the memory tears pricking his own eyes. He missed his friend so much...

"I never thanked you for that. Without you I wouldn't be here." He whispered.

   "I know..."

   "You miss him..?"

   "Mhmm."

"I'm sorry..." Matthew whispered into his sons hair.

"He was my best friend..." Max whimpered.

Matthew could relate to that some... "I know..." Something...clicked in the back of his mind. A memory crom when he was in the comatose state. "He told me to take care of you..."

Max looked up. "He talked to you?"

"Mhmm. Right before I first woke up." Matthew smiled softly.

"And right now if you count this."

Both Matthew and Maxwell jumped at the voice. Max looked up with teary eyes. "Viral?!"

Matthew clutched his chest lightly and went silent.

Viral chuckled. "Spooked ya didn't I Maxy?"

Maxwell teared up even more and covered his mouth. "You're here."

Viral sighed and ran a hand through Max's hair. "You didn't think I'd just leave did you?"

Max leaned into the touch. "I thought I'd never see you again..."

"I'm not going anywhere." Viral pulled Max into a hug. "I was just waiting until it was only you two."

Max sniffled and hid his face in Virals chest. Viral ran his fingers through Max's hair again and turned to look at his new host.

Mattie sighed out softly and smiled. 'Thanks.' He mouthed.

Viral smiled in response. 'No problem.'
