Annabeth came to school pretty disheartened that day. She wished she didn't care about Elayne and Percy's relationship. She wished she knew something about what they were to each other.

She didn't like the answer her mind gave her.

The first person who tried to cheer her up was Jordan. He saw her looking down and away so he had decided to shock her enough to get her attention.

He placed his hands on both her shoulders from the back and rocked her side to side. "Look who is here!"

When he turned her around, her expression didn't really change. "Wait. I was gentle. Did I hurt you?"

"No." She replied, still upset.

He handed over a iPad to her. "Let's see our task today. Rotational-"

She whined.

"Aw, someone not in the mood for some crazy physics?" He laughed at her.

She didn't reply.

He turned serious. "Do you want to talk about it?"

She looked at him for the first time. "Yes but... not with you. Not to say you're bad or anything. Just- Well, distract me. Maybe that helps."

"It's okay." He nooded. "Distract you, huh? Do you wanna hop in on the local gossip?"

"What?"

"Well, I'm sure you saw the decorations."

She had. In the main hallway where everyone gathers, there were balloons everywhere. Besides that, there were banners saying 'Will you be my date'. Nobody seemed to know who it was for.

"I heard from someone that the mystery person is going to ask the crush out during lunch today. You want to check it out?"

"I don't know."

"What if it was right now?" He put forth.

Annabeth frowned at him. They were almost in the hallway that he was talking about.

"Seriously." Jordan came in front of her and cupped her cheeks. "Who is distracting you like that? Smile!"

He made funny faces which didn't change her expression. After that, "Well, at least, do the decorations make you smile?"

He stepped away, unblocking her view. Yes, Annabeth liked the decorations but she just felt uselessly jealous over it.

"Why do I feel like a third wheel here?"
