Keeping Up A-fear-ances

In one of the rooms within the Owl House, the sun shone through the window as an alarm clock blared out screaming. A familiar pale hand rose up into a fist to smash it, but as it came down, the fist became an open hand to simply tap the clock and make it stop. The covers on the bed shifted, revealing Lilith, who yawned and stretched.

Lilith: Another day on these Isles I call home.

Lilith stretched, popping her back as she got up and made her bed. After applying her cosmetics and selecting her outfit, she opened a drawer to get her hair spray, only for a spiked, black cowl to drop out of it. Looking at it, the witch smiled to herself, picking up the cowl and hiding it in her closet.

Lilith: Not yet. Not until it's ready.

After making sure she had everything checked, she exited her room to head to the kitchen to get breakfast started, only to find her surrogate niece asleep at the table, almost buried under a pile of books.

Lilith: Luz? *taps Luz's shoulder* Darling?

As the girl continued to sleep, she was jolted awake by Hooty yelling in her face.

Hooty: Rise and shine, hoot hoot!

Luz: AAHH!!!

In her fright, Luz accidentally slapped Hooty across the face, making hi yelp and retreat back into the door.

Luz: Oh.... Good morning, Tia.

Lilith: Good morning, darling. *picks up book* 'Portal Creation For Nimrods'? You've been trying to create a portal to the Human Realm?

Luz: Yeah. I've been up all night with no luck. I've read every book, tome, papyrus, and tea leaf.

To prove her point, Luz picked up an empty cup with tea leaves at the bottom, the leaves shifting into the shape of a person shrugging.

Luz: But NOTHING explains how to create a portal back home.

Lilith: Oh darling, I wish I could help, but the one to ask would be Edalyn and well........

Luz looked down in disappointment, strangely thinking she heard Eda's voice in the back of her head.

Eda: Sorry kid, but my old portal door was pretty old when I found it. And I've had that thing ever since I was your age.

Luz: *joking* 'You mean before or after the dinosaurs went extinct?'

Eda: What's a dinosaur?

Chuckling, the human walked out to the front yard, snorting as she watched her adoptive aunt yelp as she sat on the couch, pulling a bottle out from under the cushion.

Lilith: Why did she keep bottles of elixir inside the couch?

Stepping outside, she leaned against the door as she looked up at the sky. As the camera pans over, a black silhouette of Eda with glowing yellow eyes and mouth appears next to her.

Luz: So, I know you're probably not real, but can you tell me anything else about the door?

Eda Shadow: Well, like you probably thought I said earlier, I've had the portal door for years. Never knew who made it and why, but I've kept it to myself.

Luz: Why?

Eda Shadow: A. Because word of a portal to the Human Realm would make the Isles fall in social anarky, which would've been hilarious, in all honesty. And B. I MIGHT have been using it to hide from someone,

Luz: Hide from who?

Before Luz could get a response, a tornado flew towards the Owl House, with a massive hawk flying above it.
