KENNEDY WASN'T much of a kook at heart, sure, she enjoyed the money, the clothes, but everything else was a burden. She hated the stuffy people crowding her, locking her in a box. They were so content with living in this toxic and privileged environment, that she felt as if she was the only one that wanted to break free. The people around her were strangers, looking for a reason to judge her. There wasn't much of a smile wavering on Kennedy's face these days, now a permanent glare was glued to her features as she went around Outer Banks.
People didn't seem to notice the dramatic change in Kennedy's energy, all they seemed to notice was the lack of people around her. Kennedy usually had her friends glued to her side, but lately, no one but herself walked around to her favorite stores.
Kennedy was lonely, there were thousands of instances when she reached to text or call Riley, but she stopped herself. He didn't want to be around her, and she was stuck with that reality. She missed him, the other half of herself wasn't around and it killed her. Sarah was busy and avoided her house like the plague. Something went down with Topper, which Sarah refused to tell her about, so she hasn't seen a lot of Sarah since the party last night.
The Thornton House was deadly quiet, as the young blonde made her way through the halls, headphones blasting as she ignored the world around her. Her family had been non-existent since the hurricane, the aftermath was left with a bunch of workers outside with her mother ordering them around. But after that, her mother disappeared. Or so she thought.
She didn't expect the woman to be standing by the coffee maker, a stoic face apparent hearing the patter of her daughter's feet as she entered the vast kitchen. "Good morning dear,"
Kennedy smiled falsely, pushing her headphones off her head and letting them rest on her neck, "Hey Mom,"
"What's your plan today?"
Kennedy paused in thought as she pulled the orange juice out of the fridge, "Not much I think,"
"No Riley?" The woman commented in curiosity, sipping her coffee awaiting the blonde's answer.
