AUDREY POV
It was Xavier’s birthday. I had been planning what to do on this day for a whole month now and today was the big day. Xavier had informed me that Caroline was flying over to New York today so she could celebrate his birthday tomorrow. She was planning a surprise party for him but of course Xavier had no idea about it.
However today it would just be the two of us.
Sadly Xavier had said he had an important meeting at work he couldn’t miss so he went off to work early in the morning. He wouldn’t be back until the afternoon.
Although this allowed me enough time to prepare him something special.
I made him a cake and helped the chef make Xavier’s favorite food. I also made him a bouquet of flowers. With Dorothy’s help I was able to decorate the dining room.
She helped me blow balloons and put up some banners.
I wasn’t sure if he would even like all of this.
I didn’t have any money to make something luxurious for him or take him out to a fancy restaurant. This was all I could do.
I had finally adjusted to my life here and I had mentioned it to Xavier that I wanted to work but he had simply said I should wait until I fully recovered.
