ARROW

***

Raine had took off running, leaving the door wide open. I gently lifted my hand from my head- ruby blood painted my fingers, trickling down my arm. Quickly, I washed my hand off while examining the other cut over my right eyebrow.

I had conked my head against the bed frame and the sharp edge of my night stand. Raine was tossing around and panting, perspiration forming on her forehead. I was about to wake her up, but she had accidentally knocked me out of bed.

Throwing on a shirt and pulling socks on, I grabbed my shoes and jacket before storming out of the building. It was pouring rain. Raine couldn't have gone far- she had only left a few minutes ago. The rain soaked me but I didn't care. She wouldn't be safe out with the roaring thunder and lightning.

A flash of blonde whipped past me. Instantly, I followed her, reaching out for her when she paused and took a breath. Her hair was plastered against her forehead, her t-shirt sticking to her body. Water droplets were dripping from her- I couldn't tell is she was crying or if it was just the rain. Raine was shaking, her lips were shivering and blue. Quickly, I pulled her under the roof of a parking garage and draped my jacket over her shoulders.

"No," Raine muttered, throwing the jacket back at me. "Gotta get to the airport. I've got to go tell Mom and Dad."

Frowning, I tried to put the jacket around her shoulders again, but she backed away from me and into the rain. "You're mom is gone."

She shook her head violently. "I need to get to the airport. He's gone."

"Who's gone?"

Her pupils dilated, the silver in her eyes disappearing. "Rowan." Raine gasped. "He's gone. He's gone. I'll never see him again." She hyperventilated. "I didn't even get to say goodbye." Raine sank to the ground, her palms covering her face. I could here her sharp sobs, and my heart clenched. Closing my eyes, I tightened my jaw.

Stepping out into the rain, I crouched down until I was eye level with her before gently enveloping her in my arms. Half of her body was in my lap. Somehow, despite all the rain, I felt her tears soak into my shirt and I buried my hand in her wet hair.

We were on the sidewalk for about thirty minutes. Both of us were drenched, but her sobs had quieted down to small, tiny sniffles. I realized we were both going to catch colds if we stayed out any longer, so I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her up.

Her eyes were red and bloodshot. She looked dizzy, and she was leaving heavily on my side. Hesitantly, I hooked my arm under her legs and lifted her up against my chest. Raine leaned her head against my shoulder, clutching my jacket.

I set her down when we arrived, opening the unlocked door of my apartment. Because of all the rush, I had forgotten to lock the door. "You should probably change. Do you have an extra pair of clothes?"

Raine nodded, disappearing into the guest room. I changed out of my wet clothes before waiting in the kitchen for her. She appeared a few minutes later, heavy bags under her eyes as she glanced up at my face, her dull eyes meeting mine.

Then she started tearing up.

She brought her hands to her mouth. "D-Did I do that to you?" Raine wobbled closer, reaching up to my forehead. "Oh my gosh, Arrow, I'm so sorry."

"No, I'm fine." I gently pushed her on to the kitchen stool. "Are you okay?"

"Yes." she whispered.

I gave her a pointed look.

Raine sniffled, looking away before gazing back at me. "No. I'm not. I hate my miserable, fucked up life."
