6/19 - Sunday

Now that they had a name for the Palace ruler, all they needed was to figure out the details for the Nav and they could jump in right away. This job could be over and done within a day. The five met up in Shibuya to start as soon as possible.

"I entered Kaneshiro's name into the Nav, as expected it's a hit." Yusuke said, showing them the app screen.

"That's a pretty big area..." Akira commented, "How big is this asshole's Palace?"

"We'll find out." Morgana said, "But first we need to know where it is and what it is..."

Ann winced. "That's gonna be hard; we don't even know where he lives or works."

"Actually, if we can guess the distortion first, then perhaps we can figure out where it is by association," Yusuke suggested.

"And our only clues are that people in this general area are being affected," Akira said.

"It's probably someplace he'd have complete control over..." Ryuji said, "What about a garden?"

"No candidate found."

"He likes money; what about a money bath? I've seen those online," Ann suggested.

"No candidate found."

"This might be kinda obvious, but what about a bank?" Akira said.

The Nav reacted positively. How did such an easy guess elude them? It must have been them assuming it'd be something less realistic.

"But we still need to know where it is!" Ryuji said.

"Hmm..." Yusuke said, pondering, "This might sound strange but I'm not sure it's one place specifically. This bank is supposedly where he's withdrawing money from his victims, correct? So wherever it is, it should be the same place as his victims..."

"Oh, come on, Yusuke, how many people do you think Kaneshiro's taken money from in all of Shibuya?!" Ryuji shouted.

"Location found."

Their jaws dropped staring at the app screen. Ryuji had unintentionally guessed the location. Junya Kaneshiro's Palace was "all of Shibuya." The distortion field on the map was covering everything around them.

"You gotta be kidding," Ryuji said, flabbergasted.

"The Nav's never been wrong before," Akira pointed out, "But god damn, that sounds insane. Start it up, we gotta see this shit."

"Beginning navigation."

The hazy feeling of stepping into the Metaverse engulfed them. Within moments they found themselves in their thief attire and standing in the same location they'd been before. The Palace building was nowhere to be seen, but the sky had turned an ugly green and there was money flying around in the wind. Central street looked roughly the same as ever, except for the cognitive people... if they could be referred to as such. Kaneshiro's distorted view of his victims was more sadistic than even Madarame's. They were walking ATMs with arms and legs, but nothing else about them was even remotely human. This man truly only saw people as a way to get money.

"What. The. Fuck..." Ryuji said, staring in awe.

"They're disturbing..." Yusuke said, quietly. "It's like something out of an eccentric horror film."

Ann looked down at her gloves. "We're already considered a threat here?"

"I'm not shocked," Ryuji said, "Makes sense he wouldn't trust anyone."
