Chapter 04

"Charlotte!" I heard Maverick's loud scream outside my room at the same time as he knocked on the door.

He's been here every day since what happened between Lucas and I. Every time he comes home, he will go straight to our house to check on me if I'm okay.

After I cried with him that day we went home and I locked myself in my room for half a day. Tinawagan pa ni Mama si Maverick para kausapin ako. Tapos ngayon ay ito na ang nangyayari, lagi na siyang pumupunta rito para kumustahin ako.

He pushed the door he was knocking on since I didn't close it and he entered my room.

"Kumain ka na?" Tanong niya sa akin.

Isinara ko muna ang laptop ko bago ko siya harapin at umiling. Umupo siya sa lapag ng kwarto ko at inilapag doon ang laman nu'ng paper bag na dala niya. Siopao, galing sa 7-eleven ayon na rin sa paper bag.

"Paborito mo 'to kaya alam kong hindi mo 'to tatanggihan," tumawa pa siya.

Lumapit ako sa kaniya at naupo rin sa lapag. I started to put sauce on the siopao and ate it.

"Dito ka ulit dumeretso?" Tanong ko sa kanya, patuloy na kumakain.

"Oo," tumango siya at nagpatuloy na sa pagkain.

Natapos kami sa pagkain nang hindi na ulit nag-usap. When he finished eating, he went straight home because he was said to be drowsy. Gone are the days when he was still like that. He would go straight to our house before going home to them. I am so grateful for him. I forgot for a moment the sadness I felt.

Lucas and I have also been together for over a year and I don't know what I would have done without Maverick.

Since high school, Maverick has been there for me, all the pain I feel is also carried by him and vice versa.

"I can't wait for the party later!" Jilyn said as we exited the meeting hall.

The Heels got the highest rate among the footwear shop this month. Kauupo ko lang sa swivel chair ko at iniikot-ikot ito nang may lumabas na notification sa cellphone ko.

Maverick :
tatawag ako

I drink water while waiting for his call. Hindi naman nagtagal ay tumawag ito na agad mo rin namang sinagot.

"Hello?" He softly said.

"Bakit?" I asked while fixing the paper on my table.

"Kumain ka na ba?" I already expected that. A typical Maverick who always asked that. Sanay na ako.

"Hindi p—" naputol ang sasabihin ko nang marinig ko ang ingay mula sa kabilang linya.

"What's the problem, ma'am?" I heard Maverick ask.

"Sir, 'yung baggage niya po kasi, labis po ng 2 kilos..." Narinig ko ang sabi ng isang babae.

"Hello? Anong problema?" Mahinang tanong ko dahil mukhang nagkakagulo na sa kabilang linya.

"Hello? Charlotte, I'll call you back later, I just need to fix this..." He said and immediately hang up the phone.

Nagtatakang tinignan ko naman ang cellphone ko, anong nangyari roon? I just ignored it because I know Maverick will tell me what happened later.
