"Del." Jimmy called out for me.

I turned around as he was getting his stuff to leave the studio.

"Yup?" I answered.

"I've saved up enough money to get my own place.. if you want, you can move in with me." He offered.

I jumped with joy on the inside.

"Sure, better than sleeping on that raggedy ass sofa Mo'Nique calls a couch." I replied.

"C'mon." Jimmy motioned his head to the door and stuck his hand out for me to grab it.

I instinctively grabbed it and followed him to the elegant gold elevator.

We stood side by side. He was to my right and I was holding his left hand.

"Where is it?" I asked.

"It's a surprise.." He mumbled with a hint of impatience and joy.

"I don't like surprises!" I nudged him with my right shoulder.

"Why not?" He asked.

"Oh.. Long story short, it's how my parents told me they got a divorce." I replied.

"Fuck that. Del, this is going to be way better than that I promise." He replied.

"OoOk." I replied a bit unassertive.

We walked out the elevator and to the rotating doors.

"How far away is it?" I asked.

He jogged around the front of the car to the drivers side and said;

"You're asking so many questions Del! Just let the surprise.. take you by surprise!" He exclaimed and opened the door.

"Fuck that! I want to know!" I yelled back while hopping in the car from the passenger side.

He threw his bag in the back seat and started the car.

"It's not that far away." He replied before turning the radio on.

Naughty by Nature started playing, Feel Me Flow to be specific.

"Shiiit, this my song!" I said and turned the volume up.

Jimmy started driving to the place wherever it is.

I rolled down the window and looked at some of the abandoned buildings, overgrown grass in parking lots, people smoking outside of convenience stores, and people coming out of clubs.

That's Detroit for ya.

"God Jimmy! It's been like an hour.."I grumbled.

"It's been twenty fucking minutes.. calm down." He replied.

That shut me up real quick.

"New Cadillac Square Apartments?!" I yelled as he pulled up in front of the building.

"It's the only thing I could afford." He replied.
