Ch. 6 "Trust"

                                                                Jaylynn POV 

Steve kneeled in front of me, 

"Jaylynn it's okay," Steve said 

"Were not going to hurt you, lets go somewhere safe," Steve said holding out his hand to me, 

                                         Flashback

I was strapped to a metal table rapid beeping from a machine was echoing in the background, 

My head tossing back and forth, shadows looming over me, 

"She's not going to make it, her blood pressure is too high," one of them said, 

"She's strong she'll make it," I hear someone say, 

"And if not we just used the last of what was left of the super soldier serum on her," Another said 

"If she doesn't make it we just extract it from her DNA," Another said as he placed his hand on my forehead, 

                                             End Flashback

The wind was blowing my hair, as I looked at Steve, his eyes didn't look angry, but I wasn't taking no chances, 

I can't be caught, I just can't I thought 

In a split last second decision I spun around and jumped off the roof, 

"NO!" I hear, 

I landed on the ground, one knee on the cement, and my left hand on the ground, 

I look over my shoulder looking up at Steve and Winter solider they looked stunned, 

And I ran, 

I ran across the street, dodging cars, avoiding people, 

I ran down the street, looking around in a panic as I ran I was too scared to terrified to stop, I had to keep going I can't trust anyone, I just can't, 

Just as I looked ahead I see Winter soldier in front of me with his arms crossed,

I quickly cut down the nearby alley, 

How in the Franklin did he get in front of me, I thought, 

I see a small crack in between buildings that a small child such as myself could fit in, and I crawled in 

backing myself against the wall hugging my knees hoping no one saw me, 

I hear the footsteps, 

They were huffing and puffing, 

"You sure she went this way?" I hear Steve say out of breath, 

"Yes, seen it with my own eyes," Winter solider said 

"Dead end and no hole in the wall so where did she go?" Steve said 

I held my keens close to my chest, tears welling up my eyes, 

Suddenly Steve appeared at the opening of the cracked wall, 

I backed up further, 

"Jaylynn please were not going to hurt you" Steve said 

"Were not like them, We wanna help you, I know I can't make everything that's happened go away, and i know I can't even begin to understand what they put you though, and what they did to you," Steve said 

"But help me understand, let me help you," He said with pleading eyes, 

"Were not like them," Steve said 

"I promise you nothing bad will happen to you again, not as long as I'm around, I will keep you safe that is a promise," Steve said 

"But you have to trust me," Steve said 

He held out his hand, 

I hesitated, looking at his hand, 

My eyes darting back and forth and I made my decision that I don't really make when it comes to any adult, or anyone, 

I slowing took his hand, my small hand in his large hand, my eyes slowly look in his, 

"Good your doing good," He said smiling gently at me, 

I just hope I don't learn to regret this, I thought,
