Every Storm Runs Out of Rain

"Where were you?" Danny mouths as I fall into my seat just ahead of the tardy bell.

I hold up one finger, indicating that I will tell him in just a moment. Ripping a piece of notebook paper from my binder, I scribble: "We're all speaking again! Jamie dumped the dementor. Life is good!!!!!!!!!!"

Danny reads the note, smiles, and gives me a thumbs up.

"I'll take it, Mr. Algrim," Mr. Jones states.

"Be my guest," I say, grabbing the note from Danny and handing it to Mr. Jones. "Be sure to read it for your sophomores in Physics too." I smile sweetly. I know I look angelic with my large, bright eyes and long, dark lashes.

Mr. Jones scans the note, folds it up and slips it into his pocket. "All right gang, today we're going to talk about transfers of energy..."
