Here we are, at the end.
The show, I mean, not this story.
It's honestly so hard saying goodbye to the show that's been a godsend in the times when I needed an outlet the most.
But everything ends and I'm so grateful for what this show gave me. The good and the bad.
I wish the cast and crew all the best in their future endeavors.
And so, here is me revisiting one of my earlier ideas (and episodes) about Eda finding out the truth about her parents.
Artistic liberties taken.
========================
She was pushing down on the gas pedal, driving out of the parkour.
She had enough.
He was going to talk and he was going to do it now.
"Eda, what the hell are you doing? You're driving the wrong way."
She didn't answer.
"Eda? Eda! Slow down, you're going the wrong way!"
"I know exactly what I'm doing. You owe me an apology."
"What?"
"You owe me an apology for everything you've done to me."
"Are we really going to talk about this right now!?"
"Yes!"
"Eda, we're running out of road!"
"You think I don't know that?"
"Eda, stop! Stop, Eda. Eda!"
She didn't say anything. The only way she'd stop that car was if she heard him say he was sorry. Otherwise...
Well.
"Okay, fine! Fine, I'm sorry!"
She slammed on the break and the car stopped just in the nick of time.
She gave him a angry look and got out of the car, walking to the cliff side, Serkan right behind her.
"You're right. I owe you an apology. For what I did to you all this time. I'm sorry. For everything."
"Screw your apology! You wouldn't even say sorry if you didn't think you were going to die, you realize that?"
"What does that have to do with it? What if something happened to you? What then!?"
So she was right.
"Well, thank you for proving my theory."
"Wh-what?"
"You're hiding something. Something big. Whatever it is, that's why you broke up with me that night. What is it?"
"I'm not hiding anything Eda. I broke up with you because you and I w-won't work. Why prolong the inevitable?"
"That right there. That slight hesitation in your voice. I know you. Tell me what you're hiding. Tell me why you really broke up with me."
"I- I can't."
"You can and you will."
"Eda, I can't. Don't ask me that. Please."
"You put me through hell. With the scholarship, at the beginning of that goddamn contract, our break-up... I gave up going to Italy for you because you asked me to stay. I shouldn't have but I did. You owe me the truth. Tell me why. Tell me the real reason why you broke me."
"Eda-"
"Tell me why or I'm leaving Serkan."
"Leaving?"
"Yeah. Leaving. Unless you give me a reason to stay."
"Eda, you c-can't. You can't leave."
"Can't you see what you're doing to me!? Can't you see the broken shell you turned me into!? I can't stay! Not like this!"
"Eda-"
"Tell me why!"
"Because I was afraid!"
"Of what?"
"That you'd leave when you found out the real reason anyway."
"Why would I leave? I postponed my dream for you Serkan! Why would I leave!?"
"You're not going to want to be with me when you find out the truth. And I couldn't stand the thought of watching you walk away."
"So you thought you'd break it off first!? Tell me why you really broke up with me Serkan or I swear to God you will never see me again!"
"Because of my father! Okay!? I did it because of him!"
"What? What the hell does your father have to do with any of this?"
"He's.. he's the reason.."
"He's the reason what? What did he do? What do you know that you did this?"
"He's the reason your parents are dead."
"Wh-what?"
"That summer house was my father's projects. But he was just starting out at the time. He took on too many projects and when he couldn't handle the workload, he gave some of them to subcontractors. The man used unfit materials, hired uneducated workers..."
"How could.. how could you hide something like this? How can you not tell me this!?"
"I was going to. That night, I was going to tell you everything but I looked into your eyes and I couldn't do it Eda. I couldn't tell you. You were so happy and I didn't want to break your heart like that. But I couldn't look at you and act like everything was fine either so I ended it. I know I should have told you."
"You didn't- I was- I deserved to know Serkan! They were my parents! How can you- My heart isn't broken now!? You.. We're done. It's over. I'm done."
Eda was moving to get into the driver's seat when she felt his arm stopping her.
She yanked her arm out of his hold.
"Let go. Don't touch me!"
"I know you hate me right now but I'm not going to let you drive in this state. Let me take you back and whatever you want to do next, I won't stop you."
"You can't even if you wanted to. You don't have that right. Not anymore."
She got into the passenger seat with tears streaming down her face. Serkan took a deep breath and fought back his own tears.
He needed to hold them inside. He couldn't burden her with his tears while she was trying to process what she just found out.
There would be time for that later.
Right?
They could talk about everything later when she was better, more calm.
Right?
Isn't that how it's supposed to work?
You talk it all out with the person you love. Eda taught him that.
Maybe he didn't quite get the message the first time but he was going to try now.
He screwed up and he'll pay the price.
They could make it through this.
It would take time but they'd make it.
They had to.
Serkan couldn't live the rest of his life without Eda around.
If he'd learned anything the past two days, it's the fact that it was Eda.
She's the one he'd been looking for even when he didn't even know he was looking.
He wasn't going to let her go without the fight of his life.
These were the thoughts that we're going through inside his head as he drove her back to the campsite.
And as he silently watched her walk up to Efe and ask for a ride home while ignoring his questions.
And as he laid awake in his bed that night, counting the minutes until the sunrise so he could start his day and see her at the office.
If she showed up the day after their break up, she'd show up today too, right?
Wrong.
His heart broke when she didn't show up the next day.
And the day after that.
And the day after that.
And when he found out that Eda asked Efe to send her to his office in Italy, his heart shattered.
He let go everything he was holding inside that night when he was alone in his house, laying down on his bed, clutching to one of her shirts she left there when they were pretending that they were living together, with Sirius at the foot of his bed, whimpering.
At the same time in Rome, Eda Yıldız was also laying down on her brand new bed, clutching to Serkan's shirt, the one he gave to her the night when they were walking Sirius, crying for her parents, for herself, for what she lost, for her relationship with Serkan...
She cried it all out, one hand clutching to his shirt and her other hand rubbing her belly.
Completely unaware that when she made the decision to leave, she wasn't leaving on her own...
