Even though it'd been at least a week since Jack brought me to the mansion, all I could think about was home. It's not that I missed home, I just missed the familiar faces, the smiles and laughter of children, the nice old lady and the sweet smell of that pie she liked, even the other teachers. Honestly I just missed the familiarity of home, this place was still new and so strange, not to mention filled with strange people

I sighed quietly as I continued to think about home, completely forgetting my conversation with Toby who was now distracted by the TV. I liked it here don't get me wrong, I was just the type of person who didn't adjust to change very well. I stood up deciding to just wander around and try and become just a bit more familiar with the place, not that that was even possible, this place was huge and had seemingly an infinite amount of rooms

I suppose that made sense considering how many people lived here, which also made it hard to become familiar with the place, too many strange and unfamiliar faces. I walked through the long halls noticing that a lot of the doors were different, some were painted, some were stained, some were even different types of wood. The mansion was fascinating in many ways, yet oddly terrifying at the same time

The halls seemed to go on forever which just added to the ominous vibe of the place. I traced a line across the walls as I walked, the sound of my footsteps echoing became almost deafening. The silence was so loud and it only made me feel even worse, it only made me miss home even more. I dropped my hand to my side with a deep sigh before stopping in the middle of the hallway

I noticed my surroundings were even more unfamiliar and it didn't sit right with me. The silence only grew louder and I could even hear my own breathing, I looked around only to realize I had been so in my own thoughts that I got lost. A feeling of helplessness washed over me and I became as still as a statue. My head started to spin and my breathing started to quicken and become shaky, I myself started to shake as I looked around quickly

I slid down to the floor against the wall and hugged my knees to my chest, I held my head tightly and squeezed my eyes shut, I could feel hot tears roll down my cheeks as my chest began to tighten and it became hard to breathe. I became dizzy and my eyesight became a bit blurry, I started to sweat and I felt as though I was losing grip on myself. My arms felt tingly and my mouth became unbearabley dry, the walls seemed to start closing in and that only made things worse

I was brought back to reality a bit by a hand being placed on mine, I looked up quickly as the person took their hand away. Yet another masked figure, only this one was different, the most prominent feature was the long, red frown. They wore an orange hoodie, grey pants and black combat boots that looked to be stained with blood

"Sorry." They spoke nervously and waved their hands, I didn't have the strength to speak nor smile so I just nodded slowly, they sat their for a while before standing up and holding their hand out to me, I hesitantly took it and stood up with their help. "You lost or something?" They tilted their head a bit and I simply nodded in response

"Oh, well where is it you wanna go?" They were being so kind despite not knowing me at all. That reminded me of F/N, always so kind even to complete strangers. "Living room..." My voice was shaky and quiet yet they still heard me and nodded "Follow me." With that they started to walk away and I hurried after them

After a couple minutes we made it back to the living room and I started to feel much better, my head finally stopped spinning and my breathing became normal again. I turned to face them with a smile "Thank you, sorry for troubling you." They shook their head "It wasn't a problem, I was headed here myself anyways."

"I'm Y/N by the way." I stuck my hands in my pockets "Uh- Hoodie.. Or Brian... Whatever is fine." They laughed awkwardly before scratching the back of their neck nervously. Toby looked over from the couch "O-oh he-hey Ho-odie!" They waved back before walking over to him

I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder and looked over to see Jack, "Where have you been?" He sounded angry yet worried and I suddenly felt bad "I kinda got lost... I was thinking about home and just wanted to become familiar with my surroundings but, I ended up getting very lost and panicking.." He sighed before removing his hand from my shoulder "I told you to be careful." I looked down, I felt like a child being lectured by their parent. "Don't wander around anymore."

And with that he left, that man irritated me so much, his bossiness was a new trait I definitely did not like. I knew it was probably for my own sake but he didn't have to be so rude about it. I sighed before turning back around to face the living room, Toby and Brian seemed to be talking so I decided I would just make my way to the kitchen for a snack, hopefully nobody would bother me there

As I made my way to the kitchen my thoughts wandered to home again. I couldn't help but think maybe things were better here, away from people who actually knew me, I mean familiarity was nice but, it got boring seeing the same old faces everyday. I smiled to myself as I entered the kitchen, now finally happy and content with my living arrangements
