CHAPTER FOUR:
A LITTLE DRAMATIC

SHE COULDN'T SLEEP THAT NIGHT. Her worries were constantly nagging at her, as she thought over and over whether or not Thor was alright. A deep frown had fell on her face, even when she did manage the little hour of sleep that she had managed to gain. The dark haired goddess was worried about her friend, and she couldn't stop the heavy beating of her heart the more and more she thought about him. He was okay, he had to be. Besides, he was Thor Odinson. She knew him better than anyone.

When the next morning came, Phoenix was awoken by the sound of a knock coming upon her door. The goddess blinked her eyes open, having not been asleep but instead allowing her eyes to rest as the bright sunlight of the early morning shone brightly through her window. The brunette forced the covers off of her body, placing her bare feet against the cool floor as she made her way angelically across the room. She pulled open the large door and allowed a gentle smile to fall on her lips when she saw Sif standing there.

Noticing her attire, Sif was quick to apologize. "I'm sorry for waking you, Phoenix."

Phoenix waved her off. "Nonsense. I've been awake longer than I'd like to admit. Sleep didn't come to me all that well last night, I'm afraid." She opened the door a little wider, motioning for Sif to enter. "Come in." Sif nodded her head before walking past Phoenix and entering the large room. Sif couldn't help but glance around the room for a few moments as a gentle smile fell on her lips. When Phoenix had first come to Asgard, Sif had been the first person to introduce herself to Phoenix. And now, the two were best friends.

"I see nothing has changed." Sif hummed, turning her head to look at Phoenix and watching as the brunette closed her bedroom door.

"Of course not." Phoenix smiled. "You and I decorated this room together when I first came here. And after that we trained together and you introduced me to the Warriors Three."

"And then Thor came along had stole you from us." Sif joked, an amused smirk pulling at the corners of her lips when she saw Phoenix's cheeks turn slightly red. She knew Phoenix liked Thor, just as she knew Thor liked Phoenix. But the two would never admit their feelings for one another, and it was something that she found greatly aggravating.

Phoenix scoffed, shaking her head as she started to grab her clothing for the day. "He did not steal me from you." She pulled on a gorgeous blue dress that Thor had claimed to be his favorite. At the thought, her blush grew. "I mean, I started hanging out with him more often. But I still hung out with you guys, and I train with you all every single day. No matter what, you were my first friend here, and so were the guys. And I'm thankful for that fact every day."

"Is that why you're wearing the blue dress he claims is his favorite?" Sif cocked an eyebrow as she turned around, watching as Phoenix froze in her steps. Sif laughed in amusement before shaking her head and tossing Phoenix her brush. "You two annoy all of us, don't you know that? Poor Fandral is about ready to lock you two in a room and see if you admit something."

"Quiet, you." Phoenix pointed at her, before she finished braiding her three braids and placed the blue flower crown on her head. "Now, where are the others. And why did you come here to wake me up in the first place. Also, have you heard from Loki? I haven't heard from him since we talked last night, and I'm a little concerned from him."

She watched Sif's face morph into one of disgust. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you actually liked Loki."

Phoenix shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I do. I haven't a thing against Loki, and I don't understand why all of you do. He's so kind, and all he wants is to be out of Thor's shadow. Because let's face, more people pay attention to Loki than they do Thor. And I know what that's like, I'm the youngest out of seven siblings on my world. No one pays attention to me, that's why it wasn't that much of surprise to find my parents didn't care to know of my whereabouts."

"He likes you, you know?" Sif questioned as the two made their way out of Phoenix's bedroom.

Phoenix chuckled. "I'd hope so. I'd hate to be friends with someone who doesn't like me."

"That's not what I meant and you know that." Sif sternly told her. Phoenix couldn't help but frown. "If he wants to leave Thor's shadow, fine. Let him. But I have a feeling he's not going to do that unless he has you by his side."

"Please, Sif, you're being a little dramatic, don't you think?" Phoenix narrowed her eyes at Sif.

"Sif is always dramatic." The sound of Fandral's voice filled her ears, and immediately Phoenix smiled. Sif only rolled her eyes as she watched the two share a hug.

"Why is she being dramatic this time?" Volstagg mused as he and Hogun joined the group.

"Phoenix here doesn't believe me when I say that Loki likes her more than a friend."

"That's because it's not true." Phoenix huffed.

"Lady Phoenix, all due respect, Sif's right." Fandral sighed, patting the girl on the shoulder.

"If I were to ask him, he would deny it." Phoenix pointed out.

"Of course he would!" Volstagg agreed. "Because he fears Thor, and knows you're already set in stone for life."

"All of you. I hate all of you." Phoenix grumbled, earning amused chuckled from the group as they watched her walk away. Once they were done laughing, they were quick to turn serious and follow after her as they made their way towards Odin's throne room.
