"James... I'm already going with Malfoy." "Yeah but I thought that was just before, right? You know... Now that we're good again, we can just go back to how things were. It's a tradition Y/n, it's not like you'll break it just to go with Malfoy, right? You guys can do your stupid yearly hate-slow-dance-whatever-thing I don't care just... don't go with him."

She cocks her head to the side with a tired smile. "Things have changed, James." She said before taking his cheeks in her hands and kissing his forehead. Tired. Defeated. That's what he looked like in this precise moment in space and time. The precise moment in space in time where a girl moved on and a guy fell in.

She's always looked at him with those eyes. Loving eyes that bear challenges and some sort of telepathy. He's always looked at her with these eyes. Eyes that mean trouble was coming. Eyes that say he'd save her from said trouble, they were probably the ones to cause.

But today the look in their eyes was different. Her's told him one thing, and his' now felt another. Time is sadly only relative to the lovers.

"James... Don't look at me like that..." "Like what?" "Like you care." She smiles. He fakes one. "See you later, Potter!" Y/n screams as she follows the passing blond boy by taking his arm.

She lays her head on his shoulder as they walk arm in arm. She could stay a lifetime in a silent room with him, but she knew this silence wasn't as comfortable because it wasn't coming from somewhere good. Looking up, she says: "Oh, c'mon pretty boy..." Letting go of their linked arms, she stops as he keeps walking away. Before he has the chance to turn the corner, she screams out:  "A penny for your thoughts!?"

He stops. But doesn't turn around. She waits. Patiently. Without a word. She waits for him. To say something. To do something. To-- hug her?

"Hey..." She laughs out. "What was that for?" He keeps his eyes closed and his hold strong. Never looking at her, while she only looks at him. Brushing his platinum hair out of his face she kisses him on the cheek and lets go of his grip. "There's no need to be jealous, love. You're still my number one boy." A wink and the back of her head slowly disappearing is all he's left with in that empty and dark hallway. Maybe a few questions too, but he'd leave those to later.
