5 days later.

I'm washing a dog while daydreaming as I do everyday.

Suddenly I get water splashed in my face, by Clara. I gasp and splash her back.

"What was that for?!"

She laughs.

"You are so easy to read, it's funny Heather."

"Get out of my mind your creep." I splash her again but she dodges it.

After I'm finished washing the dog my boss tells me to bring a husky into the grooming room from the kennels.

As I'm walking towards the kennels the husky is already growling at me from the of the other side of the gate.

I avoid looking at him in the eyes while I take a leash and hoop it around his neck. He goes to bite at it, but I thankfully managed to get it on him. Damn I really don't want to walk this dog. My boss could have warned me this dog was aggresive.

I look at the dog's documentation by the gate.

"It says here, your name is Dex." At the sound of his name his growling dims.

"Dex is your name huh? Okay, let's get you out of here."

I still don't look at him in the eyes as I carefully open the gate. In the corner of my eye I can see his tail wagging. Thank goodness.

I walk him down the hall when suddenly Mixie, a new girl that works here is walking a chow chow down the same hall.

It took the dogs a millisecond after spotting each other to go into attack mode. I'm struggling to hold on to the husky as Mixie is struggling with the chow chow. They bark at each other, droll spraying everywhere, the sound echoes through the halls and all the other dogs start barking loudly as well, making matters worse.

"Mixie, get that chow chow, out of here!"

I yell loud of enough for her to hear me.

"I... I can't he's too strong and I'm losing grip!"

"Take your shirt off and throw it over his head!"

"What? Are you crazy Heather?!"

My hands start to get cut into by the leash.

"Trust me Mixie!"

She hesitates before pulling her shirt off with one hand then sliding it down the leash, and placing it over the barking Dog. He looks around confused. At least she's wearing a sports bra.

"Get him out of here now Mixie!"

She keeps the shirt on the dog as she leads him in the opposite direction away from the husky. I wait for Dex to relax before I place a towel over his head and walk him inside towards the grooming room.

"Sandra, I need to warn you Dex is a bit aggressive so put a muzzle on him." I tell the grooming lady, and she nods.

"I'm used to it, thanks Heather."

I walk away and look at my palm. It's bleeding badly with cuts, from trying to hold on to that dog. I head to the bathroom and wash off the blood, and Mixie happens to be there looking horrified at my hand.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Heather, are you okay?"

I nod at her.

"I'll be fine Mixie, no need to worry."

"Oh here, I have some bandaids. They are a little small, but you can put a bunch on if you want."

She hands me a box of bandaids, and I smile at her.

"Thanks Mixie."

I walk out and nearly smash into Clara who is walking down the hall distracted on her phone.

"Oops sorry I was talki..."

She Pauses her sentence, her eyes narrowing at my hand.

"What the hell happened to your hand?"

"It was just a dog that was too strong for me. I'm fine Clara."

At the park with Remi, I sit down as I watch her play on the playground, and I get a message.

Ace: [Clara was texting me today and told me you were hurt. How are you feeling now?]

Heather: [I'm fine Ace, Clara shouldn't have worried you like that.]

Ace: [Do you realize how loved you are? People care about you Cupcake, so get used to it.]

Does... does he mean that he is one of those people who loves me? My heart does a happy dance.

Heather: [ Thank you, but I promise this will heal in no time.]

Ace: [Good. Oh this view in this penthouse is freaking breathtaking, I wish you were here with me to see it. Although I have a feeling if you were here with me, we wouldn't be watching the view, we'd be doing something a lot more exciting.]

Heather: [Like blasting music, and dancing on the bed tipsy and not having a care in the world?]

Ace: [Are you trying to ask me out on a date Cupcake, because that sounds like an awesome time. Just you and me. Here in New York.]

Heather: [I've always wanted to go there, since I was a kid.]

Ace: [Then let's make it happen, besides we need to celebrate soon. I've got some really good news.]

Heather: [Oh? What's the news?]

Ace: [I'll tell you after I get everything settled down with my business team.]

Heather: [A business team? Ace... since when have you had a business team?]

Ace: [I've always had one here in New York along with 5 Ace tattoo shop locations, with merchandises and personal paintings.]

Heather: [What??!!]

Ace: [I don't like to brag. I came from nothing and I don't want people to think I'm arrogant now, so I keep my business to myself.]

Heather: [I'll let that slide for now, but what else are you hiding? A wife? Three kids?]

Ace: [Very funny, but no. I have my reasons to live the way I do, but I should get going Cupcake, I really miss your pretty face, and I can't wait to see it.]

Heather: [What are you going to do when you see me?]

Ace: [Something I've been dying to do since I dropped you off. Good night Cupcake.]
