AN: I like how I said as soon as possible I will get this next chapter out, and that did not really work out as well as I planned at all! It actually turned out a lot better. So, I believe last chapter I said that I was going to make Neko’s first day be 2 parts….

That did not work out so well… Inspiration just struck and next thing I knew I was writing an over 16k chapter! So, I had to rewrite and split it into three parts. I hate that but I do think it works a lot better and a lot more cohesive. This was such a battle to get done but hopefully it turned out well and the last part will be up soon! If college lightens my workload any time soon…

But I hope you all like it and enjoy! Thank you so much for reading! I don’t own Assassination Classroom for it belongs to Yusei Matsui! I only own my OCs! I also hope you like the little drawing I made of Neko up top! Thank you!

“Now students, as you can see the cells of a plant and the cells of animals are very different in shape, but they also have a few different features that help the organisms with their life.” I listened to Koro Sensei talk about our science lesson up front of the classroom.

It was second period now which was Science now, and I was taking notes in my new notebook. Watching as Koro Sensei talks about animal and plant cells for our lesson. He was in front of the chalk board that had the two different types of cells drawn on it. As he talked, I listened carefully writing it down.

Looking down at all the notes I had made me smile. Learning was actually kind of fun. The whole new experience was such a thrill so far!

This is all new stuff to me in a new setting. Knowing new things in an actual classroom is a lot different than back at home. Mom taught my friends and I well, but she wasn’t exactly a teacher with an education credential. Not that I know of at least, since mother never liked talking about her past. Wait, how then can a giant yellow creature like Koro Sensei have a teaching credential?!

Anyways, my mom did do her best with teaching us the basics of a lesson while working full time. Then after learning the basics, it was up to us to continue learning then understanding it more. That’s pretty much why each of my family members and I have an interest in a specific subject that we’re good at.

Though I stopped learning other subjects except English right before I moved out. Had to focus on finding a job before I got too busy and not around to learn more. Ironically, though not surprising, I learned more in that one week of studying for midterms then I did in my whole entire life of home schooling! I’m sure that I’ll learn more now in a school too!

“Now who can name that one part in a plant cell that helps with photosynthesis and gives plants their color?” I heard Koro Sensei ask the class as participation. I figured he was going to call on someone raising their hand, so I just kept looking down at my notes. What I didn’t expect to hear was, “let’s ask our newest student, Neko!”

  Huh!

I jolted my head up feeling my ears go back terrified under my beanie! ‘Why the heck would he call on me just suddenly?! Is he trying to give me a heart attack?!’

“Uh, is it Vacuole?” I guessed remembering seeing it in my notes.

Koro Sensei’s face changed though to purple with an ‘X’ in the middle, and I’m pretty sure I heard a buzzer like a game show. “Nope! The vacuole is in both cells, though it is larger in a plant cell.” My ears went flat, this is not helping me prove my case that I’m learning here! “I’ll give you a hint, it’s in its name about how it gives the plants it’s green color.”

His face went back to the normal yellow before turning to the board once more to the plant cell diagram. He circled the part he was talking about while I looked back at my notes hoping I had written it down somewhere. That was till before Koro Sensei spoke again, a small, folded piece of paper landed a top of my notebook from the left. I opened it up as it read one word, ‘chloroplast’.

“Chlorophyll helps absorb sunlight thus giving it color,” Koro Sensei continued his hint when I looked back up at him as he turned back around.

I then said the answer now, “is it chloroplast?”

Instead of purple, his face turned bright orange with a red circle and a dinging sound like still, a game show! “Correct! Like I mentioned, the chloroplast is where photosynthesis happens. Think of it like the cells power supplier, like the mitochondria. Photosynthesis has many steps, but I’ll tell you guys an easy way to remember it.”

The lesson continued and I sighed in relief that it was over. Oh gosh being called on suddenly is no fun… Thank goodness I had some help. Speaking of which, I turned my head to the left to look at the culprit who helped.

Karma was looking ahead at the front with his head resting under his chin smirking a little. I smiled softly back at him. Covering the side of my mouth in case Koro Sensei saw, I mouthed in a tone below a whisper, “thank you.”

His smirk grew more before his eyes only moved to the corner of them. I tried swallowing the lump in my throat. My heart began to beat a whole lot faster again! Jeez I got to get this condition under control, or I will get a heart attack! Just to avoid any more eye contact, I turned my head to look back at the continuing lesson.

Nothing else seemed to happen, until another small folded up piece of paper landed on my desk from Karma’s side again! I looked at him once more confused, but he just acted like he didn’t do anything.

I turned back at the new piece of paper, opening it gently to not make noise. I read silently what he wrote. ‘When you said, “see you later” the other day, I didn’t think you meant seeing each other again at my school.’

  Oh crud!

Yeah, the thought of him knowing me and being here suddenly would cause for suspicion, but crud what do I say?! My heart was now beating harder for a completely different reason. But I need to think of something…

On the same piece of paper but just underneath what he wrote, I put down my excuse. I won’t lie to him, but I won’t tell the complete truth. I reread what I put down before passing it back to him, ‘yeah it’s so cool! I wanted to transfer to this school, and I think it’s amazing you’re here. Hope this isn’t too weird for you.’

I even drew a little smiley face but also added a sweat drop on it, before folding it back up. Making sure the coast was clear, I passed the note back to Karma tossing it gently as it landed in front of him.

Watching him notice it then take the paper into his hands, I turned my attention back on Koro Sensei teaching photosynthesis. But I couldn’t help but wonder what Karma’s reply will be. Hopefully he believes the small truth I put.

What felt like forever, I couldn’t pay attention to what was being taught now with my mind filled with panic.

That all stopped when the paper landed on my desk once more. Yet my heart rate picked right back up again seeing it! I have to play it cool though…

I just took the piece of paper, acting casually, before opening it. I wanted to just close my eyes and not look at it, but I don’t know if Karma is watching me expectantly. ‘It’s not weird at all. I find it actually interesting.’

Wait… What the heck is that supposed to mean?!

‘Not coincidental, or humorous, but “interesting”?! What does he mean by that?!’

I quickly grabbed my pencil, ready to write down that exact question, when my ears flinched at the sudden sound of the school bell ringing. I guess second period is over already. Students were getting up from their seats and going over to others to talk. There is a small break before 3rd period.

‘Should I still pass Karma the note, or should I just straight up ask him?’ Internally debating looking at the sentence I didn’t finish. Taking a deep breath, then coming to a decision, I turned my body partly to the left to the red head. He was leaning back in his seat looking a little bored.

I opened my mouth to say something but was interrupted when suddenly a few people came up to my seat. “Hi, Neko?”

Looking to who came to my desk, I noticed it was a tall girl with light brown hair clipped into like a ponytail. She had green eyes, and her overall demeanor that seemed kind but dignified. Next to her was two other girls, one I immediately recognized as scrunchie ponytail girl from earlier who asked about my age. Then another girl who was much shorter with short brown hair and pink eyes.

“Um, yes?” I asked flattening my ears looking up at the trio. Quickly putting my hands, a top of the note on my desk to hide fidgeting my fingers.

“Hello I’m Meg Kataoka. This is Toka Yada and Hinata Okano,” the tall girl introduced with the other two. “I’m the female class representative and was wondering if you would like a small tour with us? We can show you towards the locker rooms before P.E. in 3rd period.”

Oh! They want to show me around! That might be a good idea!

“Sure! That would be great, thank you guys so much.” I gratefully told them getting up from my seat, subtly putting the incomplete note into my desk. Then following Yada, Okano, and Kataoka outside the classroom to the hallway.

“It’s no problem at all!” Yada assured walking right next to me. Her smile was so bright and enthusiastic, I couldn’t help but smile back at her. “The old school building isn’t that big, so you’ll get the general area of it real soon.”

Okano walked on my other side, chiming in, “we also don’t normally get new students here, and no one from the main campus comes up the hill.”

Well, if I didn’t know how the students from the campus below treated the Class E students, I would not come up here too, cause of how treacherous that climb was. “It is quite a difficult path getting here.” I joked lightly which made the three girls laugh a little.

“Yeah, it is, but we’re all kind of used to it.” Yada told rubbing the side of her neck.

“Training helps us deal with it too but walking to Assemblies in the heat is utter crap.” Okano complained as the other two sighed knowing just what she is talking about. Good gosh I am not looking for those days.

This time it was Kataoka who began to speak up ahead of us, “luckily we only go to assemblies once a month.”

I looked down while still following them and brought my thumb nail to gnaw on it a bit. ‘If what I remember from what Karma talked about assemblies here, he literally ditched them because the main students bully and treat them lower than everyone else. Great that’s another thing I get to look forward to. If I had half the guts as Akane and Karma, I probably wouldn’t care when that time comes…’

“So right here,” oh right we’re still technically on a tour! My head looked back at the female class representative as she gestured to her left to a familiar door, “this is the teacher faculty room. You can find our P.E. and English teacher here, and Koro Sensei if he hasn’t gone out.” Looking at the door, I could barely hear someone typing on a computer.

“You’ll like Mr. Karasuma. He’s our P.E. teacher that is training us also to kill Koro Sensei.” Okano began to explain as if it was the most normal thing ever. We continued walking and I remember that tall dark-haired man from earlier. So, he’s not just a secret agent, but also the Physical Education teacher. “He may be a little strict, but he’s also really cool.”

Yada began to giggle a little to herself adding on, “our English teacher, Irina Jelavic is really cool too though she can be a bit something. She hates it though when we call her Professor Bitch.”

I had to stop and take a moment to process what the heck they just called Ms. Irina. When I realized what it was, I covered my mouth suppressing my laughter. “Thats an interesting nickname for her.”

“It’s a long story why we call her that. Let’s just say we didn’t get along with her when she first came here.” Kataoka explained.

I don’t know if I’ll call Ms. Irina that nickname, but I certainly can’t wait to hear that story of the reason they call her that. Though that explains why she told me not to call her the nickname they call her. I still couldn’t help but chuckle at these students so far.

Kataoka continued, “Here is the school storage room where we keep some tools for lab or home economics. Though we also have a shed for outdoor equipment.”

We kept on talking as they showed me some other cool things around the old school building, especially when we came outside. I noticed that there was a flower bed with little sprouts in them, I just couldn’t help but stop and look at them. “What are these?” I asked kneeling down to the ground to get a closer look.

I heard the girls laugh a little together then heard Kataoka answer first, “these are tulips that Koro Sensei planted.”

“He planted them as an apology for pulling out the ones we planted earlier in the year.” Yada explained as well while I looked up and back at her.

My head turned to the other side when Okano continued annoyed, “yeah we had waited forever for them to finally bloom, and he just went up and picked them. We had to show him how to plant new seeds properly.”

I chuckled as well looking back at the little spouts. ‘A creature who can move super-fast and destroyed the moon recently, got bullied by a bunch of Junior High students for pulling out their flowers. This is by far a strange class… I really hope I can make myself fit in here. Especially with this whole assassination thing…’

“Neko, over here. This is the girl’s locker room.” Kataoka called out getting my attention. I got back up and followed her to where there was a long wooden building with two doors on the front. One sign said ‘girls’ and the other said ‘boys’.

We all walked into the girl’s side, and it was a quicker tour. They showed me my locker with its combination. Since I don’t have a school P.E. uniform just yet, Yada let me borrow her spare uniform. “Here you go,” she handed the blue uniform to me that I gratefully accepted.

“Thank you so much.” I held a folded blue jacket and black shirt, then blue shorts and black leggings. Okano even came up to add a pair of white tennis shoes to complete the outfit.

“No problem. 3rd period is going to get started soon and we need to get ready as well.” Kataoka stated while they al prepared to leave. “If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask us.”

I nodded okay, then watched as they left the locker room. I began looking around. The other girls will be coming in soon to change as well, I can’t risk them seeing my ears. Noticing a few bathroom stalls in the back, ‘those’ll be perfect.’ I thought then headed inside of one to change before P.E. began.

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! If anything, climbing that mountain was a lot harder and more exhausting. This just was a normal tiring bad. We were all lined up in the track field behind the old school building. Every student just practicing our knife swings and stabs, which at first, I watched how everyone did it, then tried practicing it myself.

I wasn’t as coordinated with the others as they all moved simultaneously, but I think I was managing fine for now. It’s only my first day.

Mr. Karasuma stood front and center looking out at all of us, and I could tell even though I was in the back line, he was keeping an eye on me like a teacher should. To see if I was getting the hang of it. ‘Sure, I’m sweating buckets, but yeah totally getting the hang of it.’ I thought sarcastically with sweat sticking my beanie closer to my hair!

“Remember to swipe swiftly and fluidly. When you strike, strike to kill.” He advised strange advice to children, as the students numbered off how many swipes we were doing. I copied their movements and tried catching up to them announcing the numbers, while also trying to hold the green knife in my hand correctly. It felt awkward in my fingers and a couple of times I would accidentally drop it. Maybe I’m not managing as well as I initially thought…

“Alright that’s enough for now.” Mr. Karasuma told us, and I have never been happier for a break! Even the other students sighed in relief with exhaustion. But the dark-haired man continued though, “for the remainder of the period, you guys can play Assassination Badminton or practice you shooting.”

“Okay.” Everyone said in unison walking away to do what they wanted to do. Most went to the mini shooting range near the field where there were a few standees like practice targets. Seeing from here, there were scratch marks all over them, probably from the pellets.

Then the rest of the students came back from the shed to hull out some jumping track hurdles, yet they brought them all together to form a low badminton net with a score board. I stood to the side watching everyone as they made learning to assassinate and kill into some game. It was interesting to say the least.

“Neko,” my ears moved back under the beanie when hearing my name called. I turned slightly to see Mr. Karasuma coming towards me. “You can play with them. The rules are fairly simple.”

I folded my hands in front of me looking back at the students beginning their own version of badminton. My shoes kicked some grass underneath it as I hummed. “I don’t know… How do you play?”

He stood next to me beginning to explain the rules as they were played out, “it’s a game that helps with hitting a moving target. Basically, you have to keep hitting the ball in the air with those knives. If you miss, the opponent gets a point depending on how they hit it.”

The game really did sound easy. Even when he told me about how there are two ways to hit the ball with the knife, slashing or lunging. I could see what which was as I watched the students mimic it. Then when they missed who got the points and how much they were worth. After being explained more about the offense and defense rules, I felt like I got the general idea of it.

“Okay, I think I get it.”

Mr. Karasuma nodded then called out after the first round was over when a side got to 21 points first. “Mimura, would you mind switching places with Neko for a bit?”

Everyone, especially me, looked at this teacher in utter shock! My mind instantly panicking, ‘excuse me what?! Just because I said, “I think I get it” doesn’t mean I’m ready to actually do it?!’

“Um, yeah. Sure.” I looked over at a boy with orange brownish hair in like a bowl cut, and green eyes walk towards me. “Here you go.” Mimura said handing me his wooden knife.

I cautiously took it looking at the boy apologetically but still answered, “thank you.” Walking to where he previously stood, I could feel all eyes on me which did not help my confidence at all, but I just got to be chill.

“Don’t worry,” A boy assured next to me who was on my team. I took notice it was that same guy with shaggy orange hair from earlier who asked me if I was an assassin, “we’ll make this round easier for you.”

I chuckled at his playful kind smile, returning it back at him, “thank you, I really appreciate that.”

The green haired boy that was scoring by the board, also blew a whistle signaling the start of the second round beginning the game. The yellow ball was moving quickly, yet I managed to keep my eyes locked onto it. When it would come towards or close to me, I would hit it with a standard swipe that was always passed back by an opponent.

Until one time I saw the ball coming towards me perfectly, my eyes and knife ready for it. I quickly jump then did a lunge strike which immediately hit shooting the ball far over the net!

“Woah! Nice one Neko!” Yada cheered me on from the opposing side as she defended.

Smiling happily, I felt a good feeling in me not just because of the compliment but also that I successfully hit the ball with a lunge!

“Looks like you’re getting the hang of this~.”

My ears shot up hearing Karma’s voice talk to me from outside the badminton field. I looked towards his voice seeing him standing there with his hands in his pocket watching the game. Nagisa was right next to him as she also watched the game. I didn’t mind at the moment cause oh my gosh, he was watching me! ‘Sure, I’ve watched him, but now this is a new feeling! Has he been watching me play this whole time?! Should I be happy or terrified?! Did it just get warmer all of a sudden?!’

The feeling of excitement and nervousness all mixed to make one nauseous fluttering feeling in my stomach. I couldn’t swallow it and I don’t think that I want to! However, that feeling left when I heard that orange boy from earlier call out, “Neko look out!”

Not even paying attention until too late, I looked up to see the bright yellow smiling ball coming at me face-first, then smacking me right on my nose! “Ack!” I cried out as the force made me stumble back a bit and land on my rear!

“Oh my gosh Neko are you okay?!” I hear Okano ask worriedly.

“Crap I didn’t think the ball would go towards you! I didn’t mean to hit it that hard!” I’m sure the culprit called out panicked though I heard him coming closer.

“Nice job Sugino!” Another girl’s voice scolded sarcastically that was coming towards me as well.

All I could do was groan and sit on the grass holding my nose. It hurt like heck but didn’t feel like it was broken.

“Are you okay? I am so sorry about that.” I finally noticed that those two voices that came towards me were now two people kneeled next to me. One was a boy with very dark blueish hair and blue eyes that looked at me with worry. The other was a girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes at my other side.

Looking around the place where shadows were all around me, it was everyone else at the court circling me, making sure I was okay. All this staring and hovering made me feel like they thought I was a fragile doll.

It made me laugh and look back at Sugino shaking my head, “don’t worry I’m okay. That actually was such a good shot it even knocked me back!” I complimented letting go of my, I’m pretty sure, red nose. He didn’t look too relaxed by that but still sighed in relief. “And see I’m totally okay. No harm done- “

I was about to say more, when the scent of blood came through my nose before it dripped out. I looked down to see a few drops come down onto my chest on the jacket and I have no idea how to react to this. Apparently, everyone else does as they all got more worried than I did.

“Quick tilt your head up and hold your nose! I am so sorry!” Sugino instructed quickly taking my hands, putting them on my face and helping me keep them there. I just sort of sat there while he did that and listened to people all around me panic. They called Mr. Karasuma over as he made his way through the students to me kneeling down.

“Are you okay? Let me see it.” He almost sounds like a dad checking on his kid that just tripped on the concrete scraping their knee. I would’ve laughed if, again, I didn’t want blood dripping inside my mouth. I did however remove my hands a little just for him to check my nose by lightly touching the bridge. “It’s not broke, but head to the locker room and use some tissues. I’ll have someone bring you ice. Nakamura, can you assist her there.”

The blond girl nodded as everyone backed away so that way Nakamura could help me get up. Everyone stepped aside while we both walked back to the locker room. That way there would be obviously sinks there and toilet paper to help with the blood. It always was weird how much I was never squeamish to it, and it didn’t bother me like a lot of people.

But it is a hassle to clean up that’s for sure!

My head was over the sink in the locker room still trying to stop my dang nose from killing me from blood loss! “Ugh can this hurry up and stop?!” I groaned still holding a wad of toilet paper up to my nose.

“First day here and you’re already making a name for yourself~.” Nakamura teased slightly which made me laugh. Looking towards her she handed me more toilet paper as I placed the now used ones in the sink with the others. When I was first trying to stop the bleeding, she had changed back into her school uniform which instead of the normal gray blazer, she wore a pale-yellow sweater over.

Thanking her then going back to stopping the bleeding, I joked, “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

“Well, I mean if that was your whole plan then it’s turning out great.” She commented sarcastically leaning against the sink I was at, turning on the water to help wash away the blood.

I laughed again shaking my head, feeling like the bleeding finally stopped momentarily. “Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to here.” I aired out trying to now wipe off the blood from the jacket. “This is my first time being in a school in general, and the whole assassinating our teacher, it’s really strange.”

Nakamura watched me a bit then hummed in thought, “I guess you’re right. Guess cause we all grew with it at the start of the year, we kind of don’t see it as too strange now.” We both looked at each other and she suddenly smiled playfully, “but it’s also a whole lot of fun. Different from other schools, and you’ll learn to like it here. Like you said, this is your first school so hopefully you’ll get used to it soon. And if you’re ever looking for help or some fun, you can always come to me.”

It really surprised me how welcoming and nice most people here are! I was just some newbie, and they were willing to show me around, play with me, help me out, just being so kind! All I’ve ever known is my family and Akane personally, my coworkers are nice but that might be just professionalism.

‘If they knew what I was, will they still treat me this kindly?’ I asked in my thoughts moving my hidden ears back. ‘No, I won’t let them find out so that won’t happen. I swore to Mother and I swear to myself.’

Still looking at Nakamura, I forced a smile pushing back my thoughts. “Okay I will. Thank you for your help.”

The blonde nodded smiling more before both of our heads looked back to see that P.E. was probably over as the rest of the girls came inside. Kataoka came towards us with a bag of ice in her hands.

“Hey Neko, I heard you got injured on your nose earlier. Here’s some ice I got from the infirmary to help.”

I took the bag into my hands gratefully. “Thanks, though its nothing too serious. Just had a nosebleed that’s all.” I explained then placed the bag on my nose giving a fanged smile though.

“As long as it’s nothing too serious.” She replied before Nakamura chuckled right next to her.

“Well of course not, she had me as a nurse.”

I laughed covering my mouth with a hand watching her. “Of course.” Looking back at the sink, I sighed. “I should keep cleaning up. I seriously can’t thank you both enough for your help.”

Kataoka nodded while Nakamura shrugged, “no problem.”

“It’s lunch time when the bell rings so you don’t have to worry about anything. Take your time. We all mainly eat in the classroom so see you at lunch.” The class representative told me while the two of them began to leave me alone to clean up my mess.

While I cleaned and threw away my used makeshift bloody tissues, I did it all one handed since I was still using my bag of ice on my sore nose. It luckily didn’t hurt that much anymore, though one look in the mirror I could see I became Rudolf the red nose reindeer. ‘Just perfect! I hope the redness goes away soon.’

I remained in the locker room a lot longer than the others just to finish cleaning and change once again in a stall. When I exited out of it now back in my uniform, I went back to the sink to try and wash off more of the blood on my P.E. uniform. But it was all in vain. ‘Guess I have to go to the laundry mat on my way home…’

Finally leaving the locker room after throwing away the partly melted bag of ice, I headed back over to the old school building. When I walked over to go inside, I noticed a group of students eating outside. I recognized two of them as Terasaka and Hazama who was reading a book, yet there were two other boys that I recognized who sat near where I sit. One had dark hair in dreadlocks and the other had shaggy dirty blonde hair.

Hopefully I can get to know people’s names soon. But this group seems a little rougher around the edges, so I paid them no mind. I did catch them looking at me from the corner of my eyes, but I just kept walking on inside.

When I opened the door that was closest to my seat in the classroom, a few people turned to look at me, but no one really said anything. I don’t know if whether that is a good or bad thing…

Just going over to my seat though, I put the folded P.E. clothes in my bag before pulling out my bento lunch. When I stood back up, I looked a bit around the classroom to notices a couple of things. One was that Koro Sensei wasn’t in the classroom at the moment. Another was that everyone in class had their own groups to eat and talk with.

Glancing over at specific red hair, I noticed Karma was eating his lunch with Nagisa, Sugino, a girl with braided hair and glasses, and the green haired girl up near the front of the classroom. ‘I don’t want to intrude and force myself into a group… but I think sitting alone at my desk would probably be even more pathetic.’

Looking out towards the window, the forest and tress from afar made the scenery look really inviting. I did mention in my thoughts of how nice it would be to let my ears feel the breeze, or even climb a tree. Maybe I’ll do that and eat my lunch out there. Get a feel of the mountain a bit till lunch is over. Or just hide in the bathroom and eat like back at work. Or where I used to work…

“Neko?” I quickly turned my head to stop staring at the woods surprised when Sugino came up to me for some reason.

  Tilting my head, “yeah?”

The boy with red wristbands avoided eye contact with me, rubbing the back of his neck till speaking again. “How’s your nose? I’m still really sorry for hitting you in the face…”

It took a moment to register what he said, before I tried to hold in my laughter shaking my head. I did smile however, of course accepting his apology though he really didn’t need to. “Don’t worry about it! My nose isn’t broken so no damage was done. Plus, it was all an accident! If you were purposely trying to aim for my face, then I would be concerned.”

My playful sarcasm seemed to have lighten the mood as the boy sighed in relief. “Thanks, I’m glad you’re not upset or hurt…” after saying that we just kind of awkwardly stood here. In the back of the class near my desk.

I tried breaking the ice first, “well then I should eat- “

Beginning my statement and excuse to leave seemed to have reminded him of something. He quickly continued, “right! Actually, would you like to eat with my friends and me? As sort of apology for P.E.?”

  ‘Wait… him AND his friends?’

I looked back over his shoulder to the group he was specifically talking about eating with. The one I was just looking at earlier with Nagisa and Karma, who were looking over at us! Could this be any more coincidental and luckier?! ‘Eating lunch with Karma again! Oh, and with Nagisa, Sugino, and those two other girls, but still!’

Trying to contain my thoughts with containing my smile, it quickly fell when my silence didn’t give Sugino the answer he was waiting for. “Uh actually if your busy you don’t have to- “

“No! I want to eat with you guys!” I immediately interjected startling the poor boy. Holding my bento close to my chest, blushing embarrassingly, I cleared my throat to answer again, “I mean, it would be a great honor to eat with you and your friends. Thank you for inviting me.”

Luckily Sugino quickly became unfazed by my reactions and just grinned with a nod, “great! I’ll introduce everyone to you.”

Smiling then following him to the others, I really thought of how lucky and amazing connections are! I should get hit in the face more often!

“Hope you guys don’t mind,” Sugino interjected to the small group who was talking but sopped to look at us, “I asked Neko to come eat with us.”

“I don’t mind at all!” The green haired girl spoke very cheerfully, “hi I’m Kaede Kayano!”

“I’m Manami Okuda…” The glasses girl Okuda introduced as well with a meek demeanor. She tried looking at me but shyly fidget her fingers along her skirt. I smiled kindly at her as she just reminded me of my friend Hebi at the moment which is so adorable!

I looked over at Karma as he didn’t introduce himself to me in like the others. This is probably because we already do know each other and there would be no point in hiding it. He just sorts of confirmed this with a smirk and slight wave of his hand to me as a greeting.

“Hi Neko, I’m Nagisa Shiota.” I glanced over at the blue hair in pigtails girl sitting so close to Karma smiling kindly to me. They were practically shoulder to shoulder with each other. Were they that close? They do walk to the train station together… I was sure they aren’t dating, granted a boy and girl can be really close friends too...

‘What if they are together?’ My thoughts spoke to me in the back of my head. Almost like a hush whisper. As if taunting me.

My world felt distant again just staring at her. Close to how it felt when Usagi joked about asking Karma out… But it felt stronger and harder to suppress. I just don’t even like this thought watching them sit so close… I don’t like this feeling right now in my stomach. But I need to push it down.

  She’s done nothing wrong, right?

“It’s nice to meet you too Shiota, thank you.” Was all I could force out with a smile too.

Nagisa looked as though she stiffened when I spoke to her, her smile slowly dropping, “oh uh… you can just call me Nagisa…” Was she a little stiff because she doesn’t like her last name? She spoke a little cautiously to me suddenly unlike before.

To keep it all in me, I gripped and hugged my bento box tighter. Until I got a whiff of something in my nose from Nagisa’s scent that made me freeze. It instantly snapped me back into reality staring at Nagisa completely shocked! Hold up!

“You’re a boy?!” I completely blurted out making the whole table and other students around me stop and look at us. Nagisa looked at me completely shocked, his cheeks turning slightly red before covering his face with embarrassment!

‘Uh-oh! Why the heck would you blurt that out you idiot?! Did you just assume something about someone you don’t know?! You know what Ushi says about assuming!’ I mentally kicked myself so embarrassed as well, though I’m sure not as embarrassed as Nagisa!

Quickly I immediately apologized to the poor student, “I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to just,” I groaned trying to find the right words, completely ashamed! I bowed my head to Nagisa shutting my eyes tightly pressing my ears hard to my head. “I’m sorry Nagisa.”

So much for eating with the group here… I should’ve just declined and ate outside alone. I am not making a good first impression…

My jaw clenched making the decision to just turn around and eat somewhere else, before Nagisa actually spoke once more. “No no it’s okay! Yes, I am a boy.”

I looked back up at him as he stared back at me, before giving me a small assured smiled with a sweat drop. He didn’t seem upset at all which made me sigh in relief.

Ears went straight up however when a familiar laugh interrupted the both of us. We both turned to look at Karma who was drinking a strawberry milk box watch us two. “I wouldn’t get too embarrassed. It’s not the first time Nagisa’s confused anyone.”

“Trust us Neko,” I turned to the side to see Nakamura was sitting close by the group eating with other students, “we’ve all been confused by Nagisa’s meek feminine appearance~.” She teased the poor boy who groaned in response.

“Can you two not help confuse her more?”

I gave a nervous chuckle grabbing a close desk and seat before sitting with them next to Okuda. I just couldn’t help apologizing more though, “I’m sorry Nagisa. I really didn’t mean to bring that up.”

He looked at me again now seated in front of him. Shaking his head with a kind smile he didn’t seem that tense anymore. “It’s okay. I’m used to it. Sadly…” He kind of had this somber look in his eyes and it got me curious if there was more to it all…

‘Wait if he’s a guy, does that mean Karma is gay?’

What the hell thoughts!! No no no! We are not jumping into those conclusions right now! You already assumed something, and even if he was or wasn’t it doesn’t matter! You’re not here to date him, you’re here to get to know him! Why are you like this?!

Sighing pushing all those feelings with my thoughts down, I opened my bento box that was filled with leftover Chinese food takeout. There sadly was no fish in it, but the food was still good!

I took an egg roll and began biting into it while the group continued their previous conversation. Until when I began eating the second egg roll, Kayano leaned over to look at me with Okuda to speak, “by the way, Neko.” Humming in response looking at them as well, still taking a bite, she continued, “what class were you in before you got sent to Class E?”

Swallowing then answering her honesty, “oh! I wasn’t in a class before this one. Actually, this is my first time being in a school in general.”

“Wait what?” My head turned to Sugino listening in on our conversation sitting on Karma’s other side in front of Kayano. “You’ve never been to a school before?”

I stared at him and thought about why he was so confused. I guess it is confusing since you only get sent to E Class if you are in one of the other classes and start preforming slowly or just doing something against the school guidelines. A girl who just transferred to the lowest class also transferred to the school the same day would cause for some confusion.

“Yeah,” I began answering picking at my Beef Lo Mein noodles with my chopsticks. “I was homeschooled before I came here, so this is all so new to me. I do want to say though I already like it here so far!”

It really was already a blast to be here! Even if it’s a big adjustment to get used to. And probably things I will never get used to, aka a giant yellow octopus, a Russian assassin, and a secret agent as teachers. But learning and being around more people has already been interesting!

“How’d you get sent to Class E then Neko?” Nagisa asked next all curious.

Okuda even chimed in right next to me, “did you take the entrance exam and just came in late?” She tried asking me with a slight head tilt and quizzical gaze. I think she’s wondering if I took the entrance exam a long time ago, and due to circumstances, I just now joined but was placed here. Since I arrived so late in the semester, it would make sense.

I wish that was the case though, would’ve saved me a lot of last-minute studying.

Shaking my head as an answer, I began to explain. “No, I took the midterm test but because of… reasons, the principal put me here.” I half told the truth again. I seriously hope if I keep saying this excuse, they’ll just believe it and not push for more answers.

“What was your score?” She asked next while I took another bite.

“24th.” I bluntly told them struggling to get a good grasp on the noodle.

My hand dropped my chopsticks altogether though when I jumped at Sugino and Kayano both exclaiming, “24th place?!”

Looking back at them, everyone just sat there frozen staring at me. Even Karma stared at me with an eyebrow raised and slight surprise. Now thinking about it, their confusion and shock might be warranted since this school is so prestigious and hard to its students!

“How on earth did you get 24th place?” Karma asked in a teasing tone yet also had a very much confusion in it. I looked straight into his eyes unamused. I don’t know if he was complimenting or doubting my skills to be able to get that high of a score.

“I’ll have you know,” I began smiling proudly, “I studied my butt off to get that high and it was the only way the principal let me join the school.”

The red head just chuckled at my answer making my heart flutter a little, then leaned his body back with his arms folded behind his head. “I guess at least brains is better the bronze in some situations then others~.”

My face immediately heated up in both the way he was looking at me and the anger rising in my chest. ‘Are you kidding me! Are you still calling me weak, even here?!’

“You are so mean! What was your score then, weirdo?” I bantered back to him.

But my question was immediately regretted when he did that smug innocent smile, “4th place.” Oh…

That shut me up. I gnawed on my food utensil, pouting to try and hide my embarrassment that was immeasurable. This is who I stalked for weeks for and he’s just teasing me. Why does this guy make me so riled but also flustered?!

“It’s still impressive though, Neko!” Nagisa interjected to make me feel better, “We studied hard as well with Koro Sensei but those questions they threw in last minute was something we were unprepared for.”

Wait, I think he was talking about those questions I had a hard time on that were more difficult than the previous ones! You’re telling me those were put on the test last minute?! Well, no wonder they were harder! Maybe I could’ve had a better score.

Meeting the principal now, how even his assistant was speaking about Class E, and the knowledge that the other students look down on them as well… this doesn’t surprise me too much. But this system is weird. Are all schools like this?? Or is it just this evil prep school one?

“We’re still lucky though that Koro Sensei taught us and helped us study. We were able to do better than we usually do.” Sugino added on with the girls chorusing in agreement.

Oh right, that reminds me! I looked around for the yellow octopus teacher who still wasn’t back from wherever he was. “By the way, where is he? And what exactly is Koro Sensei?”

“He said he was going to Taiwan because he was craving some authentic Tai food.” Kayano answered my first question, though that just left me more confused! He went to Taiwan? How will he get back before the bell rings?

Seeing my confusion and lost look, Okuda continued, “he can fly to other countries at Mach 20. So, he’s relatively faster than the speed of sound.”

Oh, I guess that makes sense since he has the ability to destroy the moon, the earth and I saw him move pretty fast like the Flash earlier today. Traveling to another country so easily would be so cool to do! ‘But if he’s that fast, why is he taking so long to get back?’

“What he is though, we don’t even know.” Karma answered my second question blankly eating his food as well.

Sugino sighed, “he just showed up one day and wanted to teach us before he blows up the Earth. That’s why we have to try and assassinate him. He likes to keep his past a mystery that’s for sure.”

‘He could maybe be related to what I am then… If he’s speaking the truth about not being an alien that is. I don’t’ know where I came from, or where I got these ears from.’ I thought staring at my almost empty bento box still gnawing on my chopsticks. But I quickly removed these ideas away. ‘No, I don’t need answers I don’t need. There’s already enough on my plate with the whole being an assassin thing going on.’

“Oh! But I’ve been observing Koro Sensei for a while now! Like his weaknesses and small notes on him!” Nagisa told excitedly while he pulled out a small little flip notebook then flipping it to a page and handing it to me. I gently took it curiously, beginning to read the pages he had written down. “These are just some things that we have on him so far, but I’m sure as the year goes on, we’ll learn more! Then we can hopefully use one of those things to kill him.”

Nagisa explained and I have to admit all these notes are impressive! I wanted to giggle at how much it reminded me of all the researching and observing I have done with Karma! At least with Nagisa’s notes, they’re actually for a good cause and not blatant stalking. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from him!

There was so much here already, like 7 points of weaknesses and the fact that he’s apparently got a good sense of smell. Though some things I don’t know if we’ll need, like he gets panicked with wire puzzles. Wouldn’t that be anybody?

Handing back his notebook, I smiled sheepishly at Nagisa placing my hands in my lap. “That’s really impressive. I still don’t know how I feel about this whole ‘killing a weird octopus teacher’ thing… I wasn’t exactly told this would be part of the job description.” I joked but still answered honestly.

“It’s okay to doubt it Neko,” Okuda assured me.

I looked at her then smiled a little, “yeah. But I want to try still at least, you know?!”

“That’s the spirit!” Kayano cheered happily which made me laugh and giggle a little.

My assurance though seemed to have sparked something in all of them, as they each looked at each other then back at me. Wait, are they planning something? I don’t know if I really meant a hundred percent of what I said! I said it more because I know that they all seemed to be used to and enjoy it!

“Actually Neko,” Nagisa once again spoke, “it’s good to hear you say that, because we have an assassination idea plan that needs your help.”

“Hope you’re down to do it~.” Karma stated with his smirk at me as well.

I gulped down the nerves with flattening my ears. ‘Way to open my big fat mouth again…’ But looking into his eyes, I sighed hoping I don’t regret my decision. I have to fit in somehow and I’m sure this is what makes Class E ‘fun’.

“Okay? I’ll try to help out… What’s the plan then?”
