chapter 21

Thirty one days...

One whole month.

That's how long it's been since Donghyuck last interacted with Mark, but it didn't mean the older wasn't trying.

Mark has been trying to get this boy's attention for weeks now, but nothing was working and he was unsure why.

In fact, Donghyuck seemed to be more gloomy now than ever and Mark was determined to figure out the reason.

Is it really all because of him?

Did he break his heart that much?

Seriously, who gets all upset about some stupid crush?

That's all Mark thought. But it was more to it than just that.

Speaking of the younger, Mark noticed as he rubbed his cheek that he wasn't in school today as the seat next to his iron fist best friend was empty.

He took a deep breath before making his way over the their table, deja vu invaded his mind from the last time he walked up to them.

"Hyuck's not here," Chenle straight out said while he went back to laying his head on Jisung's shoulder in the younger's lap, which made Mark coo in his mind.

"But why?" Mark asked with curiosity.

"Not to be disrespectful, but are you two even close for you to be asking?" Jeno questioned, the older turning towards the black haired boy who held Donghyuck's best friend's hand before the two toned haired boy exploded.

Mark scratched the back of his head when he was asked that. Jeno was right, he has a point. Him and Donghyuck aren't close enough for him to be asking all these personal questions and prying into his business.

But he wants to change that so he shook his head.

"No, we're not close. But he's someone I'd like to be close with in the very near future," Mark stated, shocking the group of boys around the table.

The Mark Lee, the Mark who shoved Donghyuck to the ground and humiliated him in front of the entire school at the dance, the Mark who blantly ignored Donghyuck's feelings, the Mark who threw away everything the younger gave him, wants to become close with the sun kissed male all of a sudden?

Renjun chuckled, grabbing the older's attention and looking at the two toned haired boy who had stood up from his seat, letting go of his boyfriend's, yes boyfriend, hand.

"What are you trying to do to my best friend? What are your motives? Because if they're no good, I'd suggest you get out of my face," Renjun warned him and Mark let a small smirk form on his lips.

"If you think I'm going to hurt him, you're wrong," Mark flatly told him and the younger of the two scoffed.

"I swear Mark if you do, you'll regret it," Renjun scowled and Jeno stood up, draping an arm around his boyfriend's shoulder to calm him down.

"I won't. I'll win him back to me again," Mark said with confidence as he really did mean it.

He realized that Donghyuck was not just some bother or annoyance. Donghyuck was someone special, special to him despite what he may have thought before. He really hopes he could make it up to the younger after hurting him so much.

"Sup guys! Why so tense of here?" Lucas interrupted, skipping his way over to them which made both Renjun and Mark stop looking at each other and avert their attention towards the taller.

"Lucas! What did I tell you before?!" Jaemin semi scolded, standing from his seat and dragged the taller by the arm to the bathroom.

"I bet he didn't drag him out there for a scolding," Jisung said, his face filled with horror at the thought of the two of them.

"Jisung! Don't be dirty minded!" Chenle smacked the younger's shoulder as he back away from the younger's neck.

"I wasn't! I was going to say they would skip their last classes! I'm innocent! But you-" Jisung pointed a finger at the older sitting on his lap. "Your mind has been tainted! You're not innocent at all."

"Jisung, everyone here knows your aren't innocent either. We can clearly see the marks on Chenle's and your necks," Jeno said with a sly grin causing the two younger boys to blush.

"Who said they were from him though?!" Jisung inquired in panic, causing Chenle to gasp.

"Who else is kissing you?! If I find out-"

The rest of the group just left the two youngest be as Chenle was fuming and Jisung was trying to prove he wasn't seeing anybody else but him and that the only reason he said that was out of panic. It was surely going to take a lot of convincing for the rainbow haired boy though. And when they mean a lot of convincing, they mean a nice peck on the nose and everything is all better.

Nevermind, they're still arguing but the others paid no attention that and went back to their previous conversation.

Donghyuck was sitting at the hospital. His mother passed out on the bed while his father went out to get some food to eat. He stared at the newborn infant in his bed with the tag 'Lee Ho joon'.

He was cute, Donghyuck would admit. The baby could barely open his eyes, but when he did, he stared directly into Donghyuck's eyes. This would make the boys heart flip in cuteness and nervousness. He still has his doubts on how he'll be as an older brother, but it'll be a learning experience as Hojoon gets older.

Before the baby was born, Donghyuck was upset and angry since he knew the child would be born any day now and he was still mad at the fact that his parents kept him a secret for a long time. How could they keep such a big secret from him when it concerns the whole family?

But once the baby was delivered, Donghyuck shoved those angry thought out of his brain as he cooed at the little munchkin in front of him. Just then, the baby started to stir and whine.

He would tell his mother if she was up but Donghyuck knew she was exhausted after everything, so he picked up the baby gently in his arms and rocked him back and forth. It took a few seconds until the Hojoon began to quiet down and fall back to sleep in the boy's arms, making Donghyuck smile with admiration.

"I'm going to love you forever," Donghyuck whispered before gently placing his lips on the baby boy's cheek.
