The Mall

Simon P.O.V—

I was excited to go to the mall, I hadn't been out anywhere for the past few months.
And to finally be with a few old friends? That made it even more exciting!
I was tapping my feet on the floor of the car, anxiously.
I stopped after a while, then leaned my head onto the door side,
staring at the inner decor of the car. I don't know how Markus had such good taste in decorating.
There were fairy lights on the windows, and soft laid out patterns spread out across the
Seats, and car walls.
I started scratching the back of Markus' Chair with my fingernails,
the seats were oddly soft, and neatly textured. I couldn't keep my hands off of the fluffy cushions.
'' I really like your car, Markus. It's real pretty.. ''
I said, without realizing.
'' I- thanks, couldn't find out which way to fix it up, so I just put together some random themes, and thought it was good enough. ''
He said, chuckling.
I smiled, feeling good about myself.
I drew little doodles in the fur with the tip of my fingernail, it was so silky smooth, that
the pattern stayed there until I swiped it away.

|:| 10 minutes later, they arrived at the mall |:|

'' Finally, we're here. ''
North said, putting her phone on her lap, sliding it down into her pocket.
'' Hey, it didn't take that long- it only took about 10 or 11 minutes. ''
Markus said, putting his hand on her lap.
I turned away, looking out of the window, trying to ignore my surroundings.
'' Yeah, yeah whatever.. let's just go. ''
North replied, sliding away from his grip, opening the car door then exiting the vehicle.
Markus just sat there, I could tell he wasn't too happy, because his LED was yellow.
I wanted to ask him if he was okay, or tell him a joke to clear his mind,
but I hesitated. I finally got the gut to ask, and I said,
'' Hey, Markus- are you okay? ''
Markus' LED turned blue again, making me feel better.
He then reached for his door, opening it then saying,
'' Yeah, I'm alright, Simon. ''
He then exited the vehicle to join North, shutting the door on his way out.
I did the same, following Markus in his tracks.
I saw a lot of flashing lights, towards where Markus and North were.
Distant chattering from a large crowd of people, I poked my head over,
and saw Markus and North in the center of the crowd.
The people where taking pictures of them, holding microphones to their faces, mainly
Markus' face, because he was the deviant leader.
They were asking questions like..

'' How does it feel to have saved thousands of deviant lives? ''

'' Are you proud of yourself for freeing all of those androids, even if it meant taking human lives? ''

'' Do you have any regrets about giving freedom to androids? ''

..And it started to annoy me.
I could tell they were embarrassed, their LED's were yellow,
'' Hey, guys, we're just trying to get through if you could— ''
A fan pushes in closer to Markus, forcing a hug onto him,
making his LED turn red. He was clearly uncomfortable..
I shoved my way through the crowd, I grabbed a persons camera,
then hacked into the rest of the nearest cameras, making them system malfunction,
unable to operate.
'' That's enough, leave them alone. Now. ''
I said, pointing at all of them, then pushing North and Markus out of the crowd along with myself.
Once I got them to the entrance of the mall, I let them go.
'' You know, you didn't have to do that. We could have handled it just fine. ''
North said, staring at me with an agitated tone of voice.
'' I- well I thought it'd be nice to.. help you guys-? ''
I said, confused.
'' I told you, we didn't need help, we couldn't handled it just fine. ''
North said, once again.
She really started to make me upset, and annoyed.
My LED turned yellow, Markus stared at me, and I scratched the back of my neck.
I felt guilty, for no reason too.
North rolled her eyes, then stomped into the mall.
Markus and I stood there, it got a little quiet.
'' Hey, ignore her, I really appreciated what you did back there, Simon. ''
Markus said, breaking the silence.
I pinched the back of my neck, my face turned blue, but I was facing the ground.
'' Come on, let's go in.''
He added.
I followed him into the mall..
