Family Matters

SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION

Melanie was torn between being there for Miranda and holding something from her father that could possibly damage their family.

"Benjamin I need to go back to work. I promise I will take on a lighter load with classes, but I just can't stay home any longer. I need something", Miranda said coming into their room and sitting down bedside Ben on the bed.

"Whatever you need baby you know I'll make it happen for you."

"Thank you."

"So when do you start because I know you already put yourself somewhere?", Ben asked.

"You know your wife so well.... I'm only doing classes at the high school and college for now..."

"How many classes Miranda?", he asked ready to be upset.

"Just 5 between the high school and college. I took out the elementary school", she said worried.

"Miranda no!"

"Bennnn.....you just said whatever I need."

"Miranda I don't want to hear it you're not okay to be taking on 5 science classes right now."

"I did more at 3 different schools! Plus it's only two weeks in since school started and the high school teacher quit last week which left them struggling to find a good replacement."

"Yeah you were also single, childless and not a wife....nor were you suffering from a traumatic experience. And I don't care about them, I care about you, my wife, the love of my love", he said getting up walking out the room and she sat there pissed.

Miranda got up and went after Ben. "You know I'm not about to be told what I can and cannot do when it comes to my career. Why are you making me choose between work and my children?"

"I'm not telling you what to do. I'm telling you that it's not safe and I'm not here for it. And you know I would never give you an ultimatum on your life."

"I can't tell."

"I'm not discussing this anymore. You know how I feel about this and why; do what you want Miranda, but in month or less don't be saying this is too much because you already knew it", he said going back into the room shutting the door.

"Thanks for not having any faith in me so called husband!", Miranda said loud enough for him to hear. She knew he was right and hated when he was, but was too pissed and stubborn to listen.

When she turned around Melanie was standing there leaning against the counter. "Dad's right you know and if he knew about the baby he would be even more pissed that you're putting the baby and yourself at risk."

"Melanie drop it, this is between me and your father."

"And I don't have a say so?", she folded her arms.

"No! This discussion right here is over so leave it", Miranda walked into the living room and laid down on the couch taking a nap.

"So Dr. Bailey all your test and labs came back normal. You're fine just need to relax and take it easy the next few weeks until your concussion heals. And the b-.....", her doctor said coming in.

Miranda cleared her throat.

"Well that's all you are good to go now, but if you have any questions don't be afraid to have them page me", she said walking out taking the hint.

"See Ben I'm okay now can you go be with the kids until we can leave", Miranda said trying to get Ben out of her hospital room.

"Okay", he kissed her forehead and walked out and the doctor walked back in as Miranda was getting dressed.
