Aftermath

At the mercy off

Gaon heaved a sigh of relief. He had just called Madame Ji to ask how Jin Joo was doing.  Jin Joo took the phone from her and started crying to Gaon , telling him what had happened. 

"Who would want to kill me? I only  sentence TEENAGERS to correctional center," bawled Jin Joo. Gaon couldn't help laughing and tried calming her down. Perhaps he would drop by after work to see how she was doing. 

He glanced at his clock , it was 8am. He would have to call the office to come in late.  His head was hurting , he didn't have enough sleep worrying the whole night. Something didn't seem right with the whole situation and he knew , crazy paranoid or not he had to bring Jin Joo to safety. He definitely did not like VP Shim's expression when he mentioned her name and finding the clue on Ms Bang's cold hand was another trigger. 

They could have missed  the numbers and Jin Joo would have been taken  or worst killed. Gaon was sure everything was related to  Triangle Corporation. But why target  Oh Jin Joo  and why be cryptic  about it ? It was easier to target Chief Jo, himself and Lawyer Ko as they were investigating the case. Whatever it was they don't have enough evidence to go after the company.

Gaon poured through the copies of report that he got from Chief Jo. When was the buyout, previous employee. Almost all the previous management was retrenched , who ever this Mr Jo Wan Cheon was , he had brought his own team into the company and he bought over the company less than a year ago. He must had very strong connections to build it up to where it was now. And of course connections on his side business as well, thought Gaon. So why the detour? Did Ms Bang found something that cause them to kill her ?So absorbed was Gaon on the documents and his notes , that he didn't notice it was noon. 

His phone began to ring . It was an unknown number. Curious , Gaon put the wireless headphone to his ear and picked up the line. 

"Look at your message ."The voice was unfamiliar, Gaon knew that the person was using a voice changer device to make it sound robotic. Gaon looked at his message , it was a video. He played the video and saw a man tied up to a chair , his mouth was gagged and eyes were blindfolded. His head  dropped lifelessly in front to his chest.   His shirt was soaked in blood .   There was another man standing beside him , wearing a mask. 

 The masked man grabbed the man's hair and pulled back his head, exposing a cut on his neck. The movement caused a cry of pain from the tied man.  The camera zoom in on them. Gaon gasped , it was Lawyer Ko!!

"Do you understand  your situation ?"

Gaon's mouth went dry and his heart was beating fast, he nodded. "Yes."

"We can see you Judge Kim, you are wearing a grey sweatshirt with white t-shirt underneath, you are sitting at your dining table and there are a stack of papers on that table." Alarmed Gaon looked around his house. 

" Do not hang up this line , if you  do, your friend will die. The cut is only at the surface, we can make it deeper and you can watch your friend bleed to death. There is  a car waiting for you outside your house . Go into the car and it will bring you to us. You make any strange move to fight ,your friend ,dies. Do you understand Judge Kim?"

Gaon never felt this helpless in his life. His fear was directed to Lawyer Ko, his condition did not look good. Gaon had to do what this man asked. He slowly got up from his chair , got his jacket and walked out the door. 

Sure enough, there was a black sonata waiting for him as he walked down the stairs. The windows were tinted black . As he approached the car , the back door opened and a sturdy looking man came out of the car.  Gaon desperately  looked around to see whether there was anything to help him. Why was the road deserted at that time!
