"Oh Daisy!" Lucie squealed.
"Lucie," Cordelia exclaimed.
They both hugged and Lucie began jabbering information to her ears.
"There have been sooo many kidnappings across London...it was very unlucky you weren't here... Eugenia was very close to being kidnapped..."
A few steps away, Jasmine stood invisible. As soon as she was introduced to Lucie, she was sure she did not like her. She gave her that stern look she knew too well, that look the haughty guards at the Shanghai Institute gave her.
"Matthew," Jasmine whispered. "I don't think Lucie likes me."
It was late at night and Jasmine was snuggled up in the bed next to her fiancé.
"Nonsense," he replied. "Why would that be?"
"She gives me that look."
"What look?"
"The look. The way the guards look at me."
"Guards?"
"Look, if you must know, I have a brother. He's a Shadowhunter, and a great trainer. He's amazing at darts, knives, whatever, you name it. He loves me, he's nice but the guards at the Institute always treat me like a failure, just because I ascended. His name was Matt."
"Not true, definitely not true."
"They looked at me with that glare," Jasmine continued. "The one that Lucie gives me."
He kissed her lightly on the lips. She gasped but surrendered.
"Harder," she whispered.
It got a bit out of control, but the next morning...
"W-who? Really?" Jasmine read the letter. "MATTHEW! Someone's been kidnapped."
"Who?"
"The herondales. All of them."
