Finnian X !Gender Neutral Reader - Leaves

It was a crisp Autumn day at the estate. The air was chilled, the trees were changing colors and the leaves were falling from the trees, creating a blanket of beautiful leaves, each different from the other. You enjoy when the seasons change like this, Fall was one of your favorite seasons, there was just a shift in the air that put you at ease.

Finnian on the other hand didn't take too well to the change of seasons especially when his precious plants and trees would wither and their glorious leaves would drop down, but you always knew how to make your precious gardener smile again.

"Finny, you'll like it, I promise!" You gently tugged at his hand trying to get him to come with you. No smile adorning his face, lips in a downward frown was something unacceptable to you as he was usually the light of the room, making anyone smile with his brightness and seeing him like this was something you dreaded.

"You know I hate looking at my pretty trees when they go through this (Y/N)." Pulling him out to the chilled air, you smiled at him before presenting a giant pile of leaves, the stack easily being taller than Finnian himself.

Kissing his cheek, you held both of his hands making him focus his attention on you. "I know you do dear, which is why I thought this might be a fun activity!" He cocked his head to the side a bit confused as his eyes shifted toward the pile of leaves and then back to you.

"What activity?" His confused state was absolutely adorable! "Jumping in the leaves of course!" Without another word, you let go of his hands and started to run to the leaf pile and jumped into them, your laughter filtering through the open air. Laying against the crunching leaves, you moved your head up and gestured with an arm to Finny.

"Jump in Finny, you'll like it I promise!" At your proclamation, you saw him moving quickly toward the pile where you lay. His piercing laugh made your heart swell. That was the laugh that made your days.

Laughter rang through the chilly Autumn air as the both of you laid in the leaf pile, staring up at the clouds as they rolled by. A hand grabbed yours, and gently pulled you over, rolling over, you were settled on top of Finnian as his hands wrapped themselves around your middle, hands smoothing over your clothed back and even brushing some of the crunched up leaves off.

"I love you (Y/N), thank you for showing me this." Leaning up, he captured your lips in a soft, chaste kiss. Breaking the short kiss, he gave one final kiss to the tip of your nose, soft chuckles filling the silent air. "Anything for you Finny, I love you and if jumping in a pile of leaves gets me that smile back, I'll happily do it every day."

With that said, you both went back to sharing kisses and caressed in the leaf pile, nothing else mattered in that moment as more leaves fell from the sky.
