The floating lights

It's kinda like that scene from the original movie, Except Hugo and Varian are on the dock and they aren't singing

Varian's POV

I had just spent all day walking around the kingdom and celebrating Rapunzels birthday, With Nuru, Yong, and Hugo, we ate food, Danced a bit in the town square, and even made our own Lanterns for the release of the lanterns, even though Rapunzel has been back for years, she still loves the idea of these lanterns and always makes sure the lantern release happens and I love doing the lantern release.

I was sitting at a picnic table painting my floating lantern, I had Hugo beside me and Yong and Nuru across from us, when I finished I looked up at my friends,

"So what did you guys put on your lanterns?" I asked,

"I put the stars and constellations on mine" Nuru answered,

"That's so awesome! I put fireworks on mine!" Yong answered, I smiled and looked at Hugo, "what about you Hugo?" I asked,

Hugo smirked and answered, "i painted a bunch of coins". I rolled my eyes and chuckled, I knew he would draw money, Either way, the detail is amazing

"Well the detail to each coin isn't bad" Nuru commented

"Thanks, Princess," Hugo said.

We talked for a bit before We heard one of the guards yell to get to the boats, Nuru and Yong were excited, and stood up from the table, and began to walk to the boat.

"Are you 2 coming?" Yong asked with a yell, I was about to answer when Hugo yelled back

"Actually, I and Varian are gonna release them somewhere else". Nuru and yong both nodded before they walked off. I looked at Hugo confused before he grabbed me by the wrist, and then grabbed both our lanterns, and then he dragged me somewhere else

~Small timeskip~

Hugo had dragged me to corona dock, which confused me a tiny bit but not too much,

"Hugo, why did you bring me to the dock?" I asked,

"You'll see" he answered with a smirk on his face, he then sat at the edge of the dock, took off his boots, and dipped his feet into the water, I walked over to him and did the same thing.

I saw a couple of flowers in a crate, I grabbed them from the crate and sat back down, then i began to make a heart out of the flowers in the water, whenever I placed one flower, Hugo would hand me another one.

I was almost finished with the heart when I saw it had turned into night, and a floating lantern in the sky, I stood up from where I was sitting and then the sky started filling with them, it looks really beautiful

As i was looking at the lanterns, i felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned and saw Hugo holding both of our Lanterns. I sat back down beside him

"I have something for you," I said to Hugo, He looked confused before i reached into my pocket and pulled out a small bag of coins, I had been saving up to give him the money as a gift.

"At first I was scared you would think I'm mocking you, but you know...I'm not afraid anymore" I said with a blush on my face, Hugo blushed as well, and he said, "I'm not afraid either".

We both lifted our arms and let the lanterns float into the sky, I went back to watching the lanterns for a couple more minutes, and then I felt Hugo grab my hand and i turned to look at him, His face was as red as a tomato, and I'm guessing my face went the same shade.

I saw him start to lean in, I closed my eyes and did the same, till I hear the sound of something on the dock, I opened my eyes again and I and Hugo stopped leaning in, I looked at the direction of the sound and saw something move in the shadows, I stood up and approached it.

Then it jumped out at me, and I fell back and landed in the water, Turns out it was just Rudiger and Hugo's robotic mouse, I heard Hugo laughing at me, I rolled my eyes and he helped me out of the water

When i got back onto the dock, "So, what were we doing again?" I asked, Hugo, blushed extremely red, "W-Well, W-We were-" Hugo stuttered out, but i cut him off, "I'm, not an idiot, i knew exactly what we were doing", I was also blushing and after a few seconds, i kissed him, and he kissed me. 

When the kiss broke, our faces were redder than before, "D-Do you wanna be with me?" I asked Hugo, He nodded and grabbed my hand, I was still blushing a lot

~Timeskip~

after the lanterns had floated away, me and Hugo left the dock area and went to the park, when we got there, I saw Nuru and yong at the park, i ran over to them and hugged them both tightly, 

"Hey guys, so how was the lights?" I asked Nuru and yong after i stopped hugging them,  "well it was definitely beautiful, But you know, we saw something else that caught our eye" Nuru answered

"Well what caught your eye?" Hugo asked, Nuru smirked and Yong giggled,

"Oh, just you 2 making out, We saw you both having your moment on the dock from the ship" Nuru answered, She had her hands on her hips and a smirk on her face,

My face was as red as a tomato, probably redder, and Hugo's was just as red, Yong giggled again and hugged me and hugo,

"Were so happy for you 2" Yong said, Nuru nodded and hugged us as well, Me and Hugo hugged back, when the group hug broke, I grabbed Hugo's hand and smiled

Today is one of the best days ever, and im glad to have the boy I love beside me
