IT IS NOT A TABOO TOPIC

Cramps and the bloating return
For their sojourn
Time and again
I must be ready to destain
I call it "the thunder"
My body a bondholder
I'm thankful for the promise kept
I'm sorry for the fear crept
As the flood hazard warning came in
I run
No, I run squirming
Roses are red
Petunias are red
Anemones are red
So is my period
That's what I dread
I panic, I don't want my dress stained red
I'd rather be dead
I check for the red flag!!
The dull ache
Turns a current shock- an avalanche
Down the spine to my thighs...
I call it the "red rain"
Sooner or later to become the "red flood"
Should I announce a local holiday?
Because I can't keep this pain at bay.
Guys bleed, a few times
In accidents and fights
Girls bleed 500 times
For a lifetime
We are the volcano – active
We have the red lava – flowing
Oh.. don't forget the PMS and the pimple
Because it won't go away that simple
We take the cramps, the mood swings,
Bad skin and hair and the cravings.
Add that to the nausea and the burnings.
Applause to the lookout girl
Who whispers
"someone's coming"
Or she stands close by
Just enough to hide
With you abide
To carry the sanitary product
We become the Jane Bond
From classroom
To the restroom
I wonder,
Is it a felony to be a girl?
Is it a crime to bleed?
Is it a tort to carry it conspicuous?
Yes, it's a mess
Gore, grime and grume...
No, it's not impurity
But Something to be addressed by dignity
With integrity
Girls bleed
We bleed together
We have it
You know it
It's not a taboo topic!
