Bintu's POV
"Hey Fatima, will you be staying for extra lesson today" Their class rep, Mahmoud asked bintu.
"Yes, please you're obstructing my view" bintu replies and shifted to get a clearer view of the white board
"Oh sorry" Mahmoud shifted aside and wrote bintu's name on a sheet of paper before ambulating to his seat
After civic teacher left their class room, their class teacher came in to inform them that they where going to have a debate during extra lesson. He divided them into groups and gave each group a topic to work on, bintu however wasn't interested she already has enough on her plate as it is.
"Mahmoud, uhm I won't be staying for extra lesson today" bintu informed Mahmoud because the next teacher could come at anytime.
"But you said....."
" yes I know I said I would be staying but you see, I was copying note at the time you called me so I wasn't concentrating on what you said" bintu said hoping he will just cancel her name
"Ok ooo Miss. I I I" Mahmoud said and canceled bintu's name from the debate list.
As she went back to her seat, she noticed some of her classmates giving her weird looks even bilkis was smiling strangely at her when they where at the assembly ground but she just shrugged and continued her note.
At the mosque, when bintu and her friends where done with their prayers, some SS1 students approached bintu and they were also smiling at her.
"Hello, Fatima right" A dark skinned chubby girl said referring to bintu.
"Yes"bintu stared at the girls blankly
Nusaiba panicked when she heard the senior girls but didn't say anything, she tapped bilkis and gave her an eye signal but the girl didn't get the message or she just pretended to be confused
"We're From SS1 art, your mom's student" the other girl said while grinning " we heard the good news and we just wanted to congratulate you"
"Ohhh thank you" bintu thought they where talking about her walima
"May Allah bless their union" the girls added before going out of the mosque.
Bintu couldn't comprehend what the girls where saying and she heard them whispering something like new found couple goals. What are they talking about, she also noticed how Nusaiba was awfully quiet and how bilkis won't stop grinning.
"What's going on" bintu demanded looking directly at Nusaiba
"What do you mean, there's nothing going on" Nusaiba replies looking anywhere but bintu
"There has to be something, why is everyone acting strangely today, and what where those girls saying union or whatever" bintu asked, seeing Nusaiba was not ready to say anything, she turned to bilkis and demanded for an answer
"The thing is bintu, there's been some rumors circulating this school" Nusaiba glared at bilkis but bintu dragged bilkis to the other end of the mosque
"Tell me what rumors" bintu held bilkis shoulder so that Nusaiba won't distract her again
"That your mom is engaged to the principal"
Bintu's hands sages from bilkis's shoulders, she seems frozen but then she started shaking "no that's not true"
Nusaiba rushes to bintu"Bintu Listen...."
"NO I SAID THAT'S NOT TRUE" bintu yelled and they both flinched
"Please bintu calm down"Nusaiba reached for bintu's hands but bintu yanked her hands
"Why will you believe such bizarre rumors"bintu gave both her friends a disgusting look "I thought we where friends" bintu said and hot tears rolled down her cheeks, she wipes her tears, picked her bag and headed out of the mosque.
"I never knew she'll react this way" bilkis scratch her head nervously
"Yeah all thanks to your big mouth mtswwwww(hisses)" Nusaiba angrily pushed bilkis before going out
