Chapter Six: Late Night Texting
It was late. Rainbow had been locked up in her room ever since she got home. The phrase from earlier rung in her head.
'Or if you wanna talk, or something.'
Really, Rainbow Dash? If you wanna talk or something? Why on earth did she say that? She buried her face into her pillow, groaning in frustration at how extremely weird and awkward she had been.
As she entertained herself with the thought that Applejack probably thought she was totally lame, her phone lit up on her nightstand. She frowned, fumbling around for it in the dark, and brought the screen to her face.
Crap. A text from Applejack. She was probably wondering what happened to the awesome and cool Rainbow Dash. The polychromatic girl gulped loudly as she unlocked her phone.
Applejack:
[10:57 PM] Thanks for the help today
Dash stared at the text on her screen. That's it? That's all Applejack wanted to tell her? She let out a sigh of relief and contemplated for a little before typing out a reply.
Rainbow Dash:
[10:59 PM] don't mention it
[11:00 PM] I can help tomorrow too
Applejack's reply came quick.
Applejack:
[11:00 PM] You don't have to
Rainbow Dash drew her eyebrows together. She'd be lying if she said she expected Applejack to reply differently, but it was still annoying how difficult the blonde was being.
Rainbow Dash:
[11:01 PM] well I want to
Applejack:
[11:04 PM] But I don't
[11:05 PM] I know you're worried about me and all, but I'm fine
Rainbow Dash:
[11:06PM] come on, just let me help
[11:06 PM] it's the least I could do as your friend
Applejack:
[11:13 PM] Why do you keep saying that?
Rainbow Dash:

[11:29 PM] did you fall asleep?

Applejack:
[11:40 PM] Nevermind, sorry
[11:40 PM] It's late. You should sleep
Rainbow Dash was under her sheets, scowling as she studied Applejack's texts on her bright screen. Why was the girl being so secretive all of a sudden? She'd never been insecure about asking questions before.
Rainbow Dash:
[11:42 PM] is it the question you wanted to ask at school today?
Applejack:
[11:42 PM] I said nevermind
Rainbow Dash:
[11:42 PM] so it is
[11:42 PM] come on, now I really wanna know
[11:43 PM] what is it??
Applejack:
[11:43 PM] Drop it, Rainbow
As much as Dash liked Applejack's face, she really wanted to punch it right now. She never would, obviously, but the urge was definitely there.
Applejack:
[11:44 PM] It's just... I don't know. You've been acting so weird lately and it's making me act weird too
Okay, now Rainbow Dash wanted to punch herself. How could she have made it so obvious? She couldn't believe herself. Time to feign innocence.
Rainbow Dash:
